June 12, 2015 - Toronto - Don Mills
Marion Nash Reports:
Murray stopped by early this morning to check the boys and sent us a text to let us know that all are ok, Harper is still on the parking garage and Kline and Berkley are on 240.
Ann and I arrived at 9:00 and found that Harper had flown back to 220 and the other 2 I have decided to call the twins as they are so close and spend their time together as much as possible were on 240. Donna the joined us and we Sally stopped in before work and the days watch started.
The rest of the morning was cold and rainy and the kids were not very interested in going any where no flights at all. Bob and Murray came out to give a hand but by 3:00 PM cold and wet we all decided to call it a day no movement from the kids.
Sally stopped by to check the boys at 7:00 to 8:00 and saw a short flight from Berkley and Kline to 225 but Harper only moved ledges to the south east corner of 220.
With all the fledglings keeping high we have decided to stop the all day watch and will continue to spot check as often as we can. Volunteers are now moving to start the next fledge watch at Don Mills and Eglinton Amexon nest site.

June 09, 2015 - Toronto - Rogers Centre
Mark Nash Reports:
June 9th - 2015
A huge thank you to Linda who has trying to keep a eye on the Toronto Rogers centre peregrines. As you know, they been very difficult to get a handle on, now back to the south east ledge where they nested three years ago.
With a very deep drainage trough that runs down the centre middle length of the nest ledge it has been impossible to see what the adults have been hiding. While we know that they have been incubating an undisclosed amount of eggs, by virtue of seeing both adults, but only one at a time (and with shift changes going on at the nest ledge), it was only a matter of time before something else materialized.
Well, a week ago, Linda was down watching just at the right time, when three advanced age hatchlings were finally old enough (and actually capable to get out of the drainage trough up to the ledge where we they can actually be seen from the ground) and finally came in view!
While we were well aware of a hatch after seeing food going into the nest ledge by both parents on different occasions, we had no way of getting to view down onto the nest ledge and then down into the drainage trough to be able to see anything.
So now the best news,,, in that Linda’s visit today yielded the sight of FOUR hatchlings!! Sadly, although, three of them are ready to take flight with virtually no down, while the smallest hatchling still has about 30% down.
Oh my goodness, four ready to go ……………..

Mark Nash Reports:
June 11th - 2015
Again rushing around to several areas of the province this week, we have not had a lot of time to get all of the updates posted, as there has simply not been enough hours in the day (or night as its working out) to get any time at home, let along on the computer.
Full time incubation continues, with a very shifty sneaky resident territorial pair of peregrine!!!! We were almost fooled!!!!
Stay tuned for the Beachville peregrine updates and photos………

Mark Nash Reports:
June 10th - 2015
Canada Square Banding Success!
Sorry for the delays in getting the banding information and photos posted, but its been a very busy time indeed for us all and some very late nights again after fledge watches and having to release three downed fledglings at two different nest sites the same night!!
While coming from the Canada Square banding event at Eglinton and Yonge this afternoon and rushing to get Marion up the Duncan Mills fledge watch with fledglings low on window sills only one floor above the street level, and another fledgling having landed on the rood of a parked car in the parking lot,, security called from the Amexon management group from the Don Mills nest site while we were on route to advise us that one of their fledglings from the Don Mills nest site at Yonge & Eglinton had been blown off its nest ledge and was currently standing just outside of the entranceway at the 250 Ferrend Drive (the nest building).
So it we were once again diverted to from one fledge watch to rescue yet another downed fledgling from yet another nest site!!
So please bear with us all, as we have not been able to get any computer time to do postings and photo editing to get everything posted as yet on these two events,
Stay tuned for the updated news……..

June 12, 2015 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Mark Nash Reports:
June 11th - 2015
A huge thank you to Rob who was able to get down to the Burlington lift bridge to see what’s happening with the three fledglings and get back to us with some updates and news.
Some great news to report in that it appears that the three fledglings are all still very visible and holding their altitude!!
It was quite tense for us all having been so short of resources and manpower to cover this and many other fledge watches this year, and with all of the construction and restricted accesses, overlapping bandings and other ongoing fledge watches and demanding work schedules outside of the foundation,, we were all expecting the worst.
Rob writes:
We went down to the lift bridge tonight to do some watching. Both adults were quickly found, but no juvies. We listened for annoyed small birds, and did a search of what areas we could see, but found nothing for a while. After some time I heard some faint calling, and eventually one juvie popped up on the top of the Hamilton tower (was probably up there the whole time), and it made some short flights. Then the next juvie appeared, and finally we saw the third as it was starting to get lower light. All three made strong flights, maintaining altitude, and at least two seemed able to make good landings on the upper tower roof edges, and in the hydro towers.
They did some screaming for food, and the male did make one trip out for a while, but did not return with anything, and they were all quiet and tucked about when we left (only one visible to us though).
It looks like basic flight skills are good at this point, first test passed. I hope they don’t run into any more trouble….as they get more adventurous, the next stage of risk comes on, but for now they seem quite competent.

June 11, 2015 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower
Lisa Reh Reports:
We had good coverage today from the fledge watch team with at least 5 people coming out to keep an eye on these babies. Many eyes are also on the webcam, anxiously watching as all of the babies have been hanging out on the ledge and are often completely out of sight! Karen was at the watch this morning and saw Mystery do a fly by around 10:30. Caster brought a food drop in and then perched on top of the tower until just after noon. Redbud and Ginnie were very active, with lots of wing flapping going on. David was on the watch in the afternoon. Mystery came in at about 1:45 with a pigeon, and landed on the platform above the nest box. She proceeded to pluck and devour the bird but didn’t make any attempt to deliver food to the nest box. The feathers floating down by the front of the nest box created quite a stir among the girls. They screeched the whole time and the females flapped their wings vigorously. Little Reggie remained in the box and out of sight during that time. Mystery continued feeding and was unmoved by their protests. At 1:45, Mystery joined Caster in driving off a red-tailed hawk and then sat atop the tower watching over the nest. Mystery took some short flights, but was always within view of the nest. Mystery may be starting to withhold food to entice the young ones out for their first flights. Later in the afternoon, there was much running around the nest box and more flapping of wings.

June 11, 2015 - Mississauga - Executive Centre
Tracy Simpson Reports:
When Bruce arrived on site today he had two of the girls on the roof of MEC 3 and our third girl was not showing herself. He did a perimeter check of the four buildings but there was no sign of our missing girl believed to be Ieva. This was in a sense a good thing as this could mean that she was at an elevation just out of sight. Bruce set up to watch MEC 3 where the two girls, Hawkeye and Adrianna, were perched and preening. He could also see Midnight on the window wells on the north side of MEC 1. He waited to see if Ieva might pop up out of the window wells or whether the parents made an effort to tease out Ieva from her hiding place but no luck. He went for another perimeter check once the two girls at 3 had settled again and this time found Ieva on top of a roof on the edge of the townhouse complex to the east of the MEC buildings. She took off and headed towards MEC 1 and he lost sight of her but knew that she was low. In the meantime, the two on MEC 3 were becoming active and a second bird now took flight. This time it was Hawkeye who attempted to gain the nest ledge but fell short by several stories and flew back over by MEC 4. She ended up in a tree on the west side of MEC 4 about 25 feet up and although uncomfortable she made no move to leave. Winston arrived and helped to search for Ieva who they believed may be in the valley trees between MEC 1 and MEC 3. They were unable to find her and their light was getting quite low. They continued to monitor Hawkeye in the tree at 4 and this was the perfect time for Adrianna to take off of the roof of MEC 3 undetected! They located her on a window well just to the north of the nest ledge and it would seem that this young lady is now well on her way. One good, two to go.
Bruce and Winston closed off the watch with Adrianna on the nest building window well, Hawkeye in a tree at MEC 4 and Ieva in a location unknown. I am hoping to be down at first light for as long as I can before going to work and Bruce will be coming down shortly after dawn as well to continue the search for Ieva and monitor our treed Hawkeye. The Year of the Tree I guess.

Marion Nash Reports:
All 3 chicks were on the top of the nest building this morning so Harper must have flown back very early in the morning. it was not long after I arrived that Quest flew in and gave Kline and Berkley a small snack. shortly after his small tidbit Kline took his second flight and this time he flew great out and around the Harlequin Building to land high up on roof of the building just east of Harlequin safe and sound. Parker on the other hand stayed in the same spot all day long. Harper the show off flew back and forth from the nest building to Harlequin then over to 240 and back to the nest building.
At 6:45 Quest went on a hunt just above our heads so Bob, Sally and I watched her drive a pigeon into the window then chase it to the west side of Harlequin. A second later she flew to the roof top with it in her mitts and fed Berkley.
I assumed that since it was now 7:00 PM and had some food he would likely stay put but no he copied Kline’s flight and landed right beside his brother on the same level of the building east of Harlequin.
Ok I said I guess we can head home now everyone is up high been fed and are safe so we could make a early night of it. I say Nay Nay Berkley landed on a pyramid shaped window on the same building slipped of and fluttered down to the ground.
We went over to scoop him up but this time he knew exactly what we were up to and had no intention of being kidnaped by aliens again. He flew low over Duncan Mill Rd yikes and east of 240 hooking east then back the way he came back across Duncan Mill Rd. when we lost sight of him. In the mean time Kline had flown to the roof top at 240. Bob walked in the direction he was headed and found him on the top of the parking garage behind Harlequin on a high retaining wall that runs along the east side safe and sound. So he now know how to get altitude from ground good for him.
When we left Harper was on the window ledge on the east side of the nest building, Kline on the roof top of 240 and Berkley on the parking garage watched over by mom on the building east of Harlequin.
