Saw quest and a juv flying high up in the sky.
Plus one juv on 240 having a snack.
Harder to find all at one time.
Loved watching quest soar and soar from the 401 yo the nest building yo the Don Mills road and back.
She is so smooth and relaxed in her flight.
A true honor to watch her.

Harlequin today June 28
Arrived at 3pm in the pooring rain.
Could not see any Falcons until I went behind 240. There was quest sitting in the rain. I drove to the other side and saw skye on his normal spot on 240.
Figured kids were nearby.
Went back to watch quest. Love the feathers wet when she started to preen.
Didn’t last long as Kline came flying in screaming. On Kline arrival on ledge away flew quest to the pink building. Kline complained then flew off.
Went back to parking lot at 220. Sat with Windows down watching skye preen and then take off. I heard another scream. Found Harper on the 3rd floor of 240. Skye came in to where Harper was. Did not see any food.
At this time another juv landed on 220 on the ne corner. He was there 30 seconds He Took off over the 401 with quest on his heals.
Now I decided to leave to find out my car was dead. Battery problems. Had to wait an hour for CAA so wandered looking for more Falcons.
As I walked down stairs in flew Harper on the hydro line. Not a good combination rain and hydro. Luckily he flew off very low to ground across road and landed back on 3rd floor.
Time to go home. Harper was on the 3 Rd floor facing wall.

Arrived at 930 am.
Saw 3 peregrines on 240 on arrival
Skye was on the 4th floor of building ledge with Kline at the nw corner , harper on top ledge sw, and Berkley on sw top.
All were quiet. Shortly after Kline did a circle around building then took off at 10 10am towards the 401. Did a few circles then disappeared. Within second skye was behind him over 401. In the next minute Berkley went off towards 401 and lastly Harper.
No screaming just straight soaring and a bit of flapping. These juvenile are amazing flyers.
By 10:15 am they were all gone.
Drove over towards 401 but no luck finding them.
Sally from harlequin saw and heard them at lunch time.
I don’t remember a fledge watch where juveniles at harlequin started flying so far away do soon.

Mark and I went out to check on the boys and all was quite. We spotted Mom on the Thales building but had to do a walk around to find the boys. The little fellows were up high on the east side of 240 just getting up from an afternoon nap with Sky on the next window ledge. We got a few pictures before they flew off to find Mom and dinner I assume.

I took MC and Glenda to see the peregrines at harlequin today. Two hours of amazing flight and excitement.
Arrived at 9:30 to no sign of peregrines. Did a walk about and I heard them coming via screams to the east. Looked up to see them chasing each other. Went to the check on them to have the third juvenile fly in as well. One on the white box on roof Harper, one on top ledge Berkley and one on the top window ledge Kline. Suddenly Harper took off and flew around building landing in same spot. Next Berkley stretch his wing and off around building. Kline didn’t move. The screaming started and I was looking for quest when she took a fast turn around the pink building and the chase began. At first it was Quest and Harper. The chase was fast with quest doing turns a pilot could only dream of. Harper was upside down and gliding around building very tight. Then Berkley and finally Kline joined in. Quest took off for the Thales building and there sitting on ledge was Skye. Harper made it to Thales tried to knock off Skye gave up and went around corner, Berkley landed on Thales roof and finally Kline took off and went around Thales building. For five minutes no peregrines. Then Skye came back with a package so the chase was on again. Quest took th package from Skye and then Harper wins the package but he sure had to work for it. He finally landed on the window ledge of building while Berkley and Kline played chase with high speed chased and well the most amazing thrill watching them. They were very high up and in the sky. They finally came back to rest.
So all birds are back on building. I was breathless watching them. Knew we had a few minutes so I took a walk around the building. I found two peregrine impact with powder on harlequin building. Photos attached. So while they are flying well they have made impact with window enough speed to leave their image on window.
The final session was Skye arriving with another package to which Quest stole immediately from him. Quest left and so did Harper who flew to another window ledge. When quest left both Berkley and Kline followed her. Berkley came back with a package this time. They never just fly they are magic in the air. Exciting fast and so entertaining. It was not stop action till 1130. At that time I left with quest on the side building preening herself, another peregrine juv eating on corner ( could not see band) and the other two not to be seen.
What a day.
My friends were so excited
Never seen so much action in a few hours
Used to be the magic hour was evening but at harlequin it is morning.
No photo of Kline but he was flying well today. He is the only one that did not receive a package while I was there.

CPF Postmaster Reports:
June 13th - 2015
Well, as most of the peregrine watches already know, size doesn’t matter when it come to a peregrine and being the fastest animal on the planet! As a matter of fact, in this case, smaller is actually better, especially when your as fast as an F-16 jet fighter, (and a mother) looking to protect their babies!!
The bigger that target, the better!!
While you can’t help feel the terror and pain for the poor unsuspecting Osprey that just happened to float by on its way somewhere??,, when suddenly out of the blue, and from above, two attacking F-16 jet fighters in the form of a mother female peregrine falcon and her mate protecting their young fledglings drops in,,, literally drops in from above and tears a strip off your back!!
A big thank you to Lucie and hubby who just happened to be at the right place, at the right time and caught Quest in action delivering some good old fashion peregrine pain to an unsuspecting Osprey,,, obviously in wrong place at the wrong time!!
All of the photo credit goes to Arvo Poolar for taking these fantastic photos and sharing them with us!
Enjoy……….
** Note - The Osprey did in fact “get-out-of-Dodge” with only just a few less feathers and in need of a change of its underpants! (Sorry, I meant to say, a change of its under-down).

Ann Brokelman Reports:
I arrived tonight to see the two that are joined at the beak Kline and Berkley on the tip of the building. I see a falcon fly in and it is Harper. He joins the pair but eventually moves off to be by himself.
Quest was on harlequin building just watching. I never did see skye.
Suddenly Harper took off and flew over the nest building. Oh man is he a great flyer. Wings tucked in and fast. He would then soar around the nest ledge and then turn back to the building where Kline and Berkley were. I laughed out loud as I saw him swoop in between the two of them and take off. Berkley was totally ticked as he set off after Harper with Kline right behind.
What is better than watching peregines have fun.
Photos attached. Enjoy.

I’ve been treated to some amazing aerial acrobatics from my desk I feel so lucky to sit where I do!
Around 1pm yesterday I got a call that there was a distinct imprint of a bird on the 8th floor boardroom. Ran down and couldn’t see anything in the “danger zone” (upper east side windows) so walked around the building then around the area a bit incase it had regained flight but come down somewhere. Ended up spotting them all on 240 building. Phew! Must have been a fledge bump after the window washers had done their work pre-banding (can’t help but wonder if it was Harper’s because he could have come down onto that ledge above the loading dock after that? Who knows but thankfully it wasn’t a bad hit. I want to mention this to our property manager that they pick the worst time of year to wash the windows.
What I did discover on my check was a fluffy little bird in the middle of the flower bed at the front of our building. I called FLAP for advice, emailed them a photo and they confirmed it wasn’t an adult recovering from a window hit (my worry) but a fledged red-breasted nuthatch. Records show they nest in this area, so I was OK to leave him there it was very quiet out front and the parents were no doubt nearby. So I hope it’s OK wherever he/she is now! Attaching my iphone pic (forgive the poor quality).
