There have been a few years of frustration with the resident female Trillium who had a passion for eating her own eggs (more than 24 in about 4 years) thankfully she was driven away by 2 juvenile females last summer. The resident male (Buffalo Bill) is still here and the 2nd year Juvie who chased Trillium away & killed Red Bud from Kitchener in a violent battle last year is the new female here. We have not even given her a name yet. However we now have a successful hatch. The young one appeared on about May 19th. There are also 2 more eggs in the nest. Our camera is pooched so it’s difficult to keep tabs on what’s going on but we will do our best.

Just told that there are 3 chicks hatched at the Burlington lift bridge as of May 15th. Banding day is being planned stay tuned. photos to come.

Banding day went very well for 2 female chicks. The first chick named Angelina weighed 930 grams at 24 days old and the second named Mary weighed 935 grams at 27 days old. their band information is below.
Angelina S over 65 with red tape
Mary 2 Over 67 with blue tape.

Irma & I are happy to report we have 2 hatchlings!! We have been up to check a few times but our parents would not budge to give us a peek! Until Tuesday..we waited Jenna out and she finally hopped off her babies to come check us out! I snapped a few pics of her and when she hopped back down, I beelined it up the ladder and got a look and a couple of pics of our two chicks! Fledge watch begins in about a month!!

!!! Banding day for 2 girls

May 17th 2017
Banding day at the Mississauga Executive Centre went very well. We had 2 chicks both females. We marked the silver band blue for the chick that was names Mary and Red for Angelina. We expect the fledgling watch to start in about 10 days.

!!! Confirmation of 4 Chicks in Windsor

Team Leader Paul Gosselin has confirmed sighting 4 chicks in the nest at the Ambassador Bridge. Voltaire and Victor have been busy feeding and caring for the young. Should be another busy watch year!
