June 26, 2013 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:
Early this evening I dropped by the Sheraton nest site waiting to see the falcon air show. I guess they are on a dinner break, as I found two juveniles on the roof top of the office building on University Avenue. The adults were not in view at this time. Unfortunately, we have not been able to see all three juveniles together at the same time. Don’t know if he is already on his own, or just keeping to himself and out of our sight.

Tracy Simpson Reports:
After the fabulous flying of Little boy blue yesterday, I was looking very forward to seeing what today had to bring. We started off the morning with little blue upon the retaining wall of the hospital and his three siblings on the ledge screening their hearts out. One of the females with red tape over her U.S. Fish and Wildlife band was actively flapping at the southeast corner of the nest building. I sat watching her thinking to myself she’s going to be the next one that’s going to fly and fly she did. She took off into the air and no sooner had she begun to flap her wings when dad came roaring in out of nowhere. Based on her height and trajectory she was destined for the other side of Humber College Boulevard, a place where only low buildings and danger existed. Hurricane would have none of it. He gently guided his daughter down to the roof of the medical center building on the hospital property. There she stood on top of the very peak of the building and was very unhappy about what had just occurred. She was quite determined to make her way across the street only to have dad interfere and she let him know how dissatisfied she was with his attempts to dissuade her. It was about this time that the rains began to roll in and here she was fully exposed on the top of the low medical building roof. She didn’t have a choice but to get wet today and so she decided it was worth enjoying. She dipped her tail, flapped her wings and vocalized as the rain soaked her feathers for the first time. After the rain tapered off she spent the next few hours preening her feathers back into pristine condition, as pristine as could be for juvenile, and enjoyed herself roosting the morning away. All throughout this her little brother blue was flying around the building testing out his wings and improving upon his landings. While his flying was looking great his landings, not so much. I will say this though compared with yesterday’s barrel roll landings on the ledge he was at least now skidding to a halt instead. This was much to the amusement of his two siblings still sitting on the ledge watching all of this take place. All was fairly quiet for the better part of the day with the adults bringing in a few feedings here and there for the kids still on the ledge. This of course enraged little red sitting on the medical center roof top and she ran back-and-forth screaming her head off telling the world all about how mom and dad were not giving her any of the spoils. It’s at this point that Bruce and I decided to switch nest sites. That,s when all the fun began. Little red took a flight off of the medical center roof and she was not able to gain altitude. She went low around to the south side of the hospital and losing altitude came to the ground. Bruce had just left the site to run a brief errand when all of this occurred leaving watcher Winston in charge. Little Miss red gave Winston quite the run for his money. He followed her around to the south side of the hospital where he located her on the ground, but when he attempted to rescue she deeked him out and was flapping her way around to the other side. Winston caught up with little red once again and attempted to make another ground rescue but once again she had other plans. She opened her wings, caught some air and was back again around to the far side of the hospital. What concerned Winston most was that she was coming close to the roadways that surround the hospital. I raced back from MEC three to the hospital to find that the calisthenics exercises were now over and Little Miss red sat perched in a tree by the roadway. What to do with little miss red. We positioned ourselves to watch and see if she was going to take another flight and attempt to make it home. We stayed until we could hardly see but she was not to be moved even though she was being strongly encouraged by the local robins to get out of their tree and make her way back to her own nest site. The robins, about five of them, were absolutely relentless in their dive bombing of this female and on many occasions actually made full contact with her. This wasn’t enough to move her to the air and so she decided to spend the night in the tree. Bruce and I agreed that at first light, she would most likely take her next flight and so it was that we decided to leave her there and come back the next morning at dawn.

June 26, 2013 - Toronto - King Street
Linda Woods Reports:
Just witnessed a fabulous air show put on by the kids at 18 King St. Both Cosmina and Anastasia were flying high above the King St nest area with one of the adults. Lots of screaming as the kids followed the adult. I could not see if the adult had food. Both juveniles then landed on the upper roof level of One Dundee Place. Good landings!

June 25, 2013 - Scarborough - Yellow Pages
Mark Nash Reports:
June 25th- 2013
My first day at the Yellow pages was rewarded by some spectacular flights by Loki - (the juvenile male) later on in the day just after the heat and humidity dissipated. All morning, I played “ring-around-the rosy” for hours searching all of the ledges and grounds around the building before I finally located the two juveniles.
Despite Kathy’s news the night before that the little juvenile male had fallen from the nest ledge and struggled in flight to a much lower elevation - the canopy roof just above the main entrance and was dangerously low. It was expected that his next flight would be to the ground, and in need to being rescued from the street or roadway.
The good news, is that this was not the case, as that the little male (named Loki) was finally located high up on the third highest elevation of the building, and is flying like a pro! He make several very long flights out to the west, followed very closely by his mom (Linn) and I watched her escorted him back only to land way up high on the Yellow pages upper roof area of the building. On his third and longest flight out and back to the nest building, it was obvious that he was not going to make upper building ledge and I watched for the second time this season on the fledge watch, the adult female 9this time his mom, named Linn) actually fly under him and “shunted” him upwards from underneath while in flight as they approached the ledge. This was enough to push him upwards avoiding collision with the concrete wall and he made a perfect landing on his targeted ledge!
Through out this period - (and the entire day up to dark), his younger sister - (named Neira) flapped away from the nest ledge, which she had obviously never left, - (and still yet to take her first flight and fledge).
For Loki’s last flight of the day around 8:20pm, he returned back to the nest ledge to join his sister and the two went through the usual prolonged greeting routine of touching beaks.
By 8:50pm, Linn was observed bringing in food to the nest ledge and we watched the two siblings enjoy a evening meal together. By 9pm, both of the juveniles has disappeared back into the nest ledge and tucked down out of sight. Both adults were roosting on their usual spots high above the nest ledge on the upper Yellow pages building rooftop.
As darkness fell, I closed the days watch and headed for home.

Reports from today:
Irma reports:
When I got to ICICI it was pouring rain! As I was approaching the building, I saw Mom fly over to AM-E’s corner and once I turned in the driveway and looked up……there she was up on the roof ledge turtle walking towards Mom on the side facing DeBeers. Chester looked snug on his “S” as usual. I saw a fledgling on the ICICI ledge and another on the top window ledge of the DeBeers building on the side to the left of the sign where Mom and Dad hang out. The rain eased up a little and I saw the blue band on Superman on the window ledge (from my truck with the binoculars!) After about 15 minutes of no movement, I went home.
Cathy reports:
I dropped in on Bruce watching from 3pm. When I got there, it started to pour but we watched AM-E enjoying a shower and brother Lucky (aka Superman) joined her. We watched with delight, (ok it was me who was delighted) as AM-E did a little fly from one perch to another! OK so it wasn’t a fledge but she is finally moving lol! I left but not 10 minutes later Bruce texted me that she had tried to do the fly back, missed and slid down to the nest level ledge. Big brother flew in above her and there he stayed, watching over his little sis! And there they still were when I came back around 7:30ish. And there they stayed until Superman got a little annoyed at not being fed and he flew over to Mom & Dad on the letters–and he finally landed on one!! YAY!! Of course that annoyed Mom and off she went. Sorry no pics, as I was keeping an eye on AM-E. And they did not get any food during our watch. Lucky flew around the nest building and there he settled in for the night. And when I left at dark, AM-E was still perched on the ledge for the night. With luck, we will see her fledge tomorrow!!

June 25, 2013 - Toronto - King Street
Linda Woods Reports:
Anastasia finally comes off her release point and is taking short flights from the nest building and over to near by roof tops. Both Erin and Windwhistler are attentive and are keeping their eyes on the two female fledglings. Early this evening both were seen on the north service side of the nest building where a food drop was made about an hour earlier. I think by the weekend we should be enjoying evening air shows, with adults in tow.

June 25, 2013 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:
To continue with Harry’s report, Terry an observer from a local office tower, captured this image of one of the juvies back on the ledge with both adults. Thanks Terry. Sheraton birds continue to do well rocking the skies with the adults. It’s good to see them flying high.

Marion Nash Reports:
Luna still flying like and ace today and likes to push mom and dad off their perch at every opportunity I think it’s a game for her now. She flew and took food both parents 4 times today including some that I think Kendal meant to eat himself.
Little Carina had made it up to the uppermost window ledge sometime after 8:00 AM and spent most of the day there yelling at Quest and Kendal for food but by early evening she was getting fed up with Luna getting all the food and started to fly.
The first couple flights were just back and forth from 240 to 220 and were OK flights but a little iffy on the landing. The next was a very long flight to the Kraft building beside the Thales building very nice flight a good landing. The next was back to 240 Duncan Mill first window ledge below the roof very good landing and the last was to the roof top of Harlequin right beside her mom pinpoint perfect landing way to go Carina!!! She has her Mojo back.

Zoe Berger Reports:
Anastasia was released last night. Today, she sat in the area where she had been released - for HOURS. Her sister made regular and long visits that included preening and beaking her and generally trying to encourage her to fly. It was very sweet but to no avail. FINALLY a bit after 2 pm she suddenly flew over to the King Eddie near the chimney - very good height. She flapped a lot and looked very insecure. Cosmina joined her shortly and continued being the concerned big sister. Meanwhile, both of them vocalized everytime they saw either parent. It seems they were not going to be fed until Anastasia did some more flying.
Cosmina finally took off and her sister remained on the King Eddie for almost an hour and then returned to her release spot and settled in. Once again her sister came over but still no food for either of them. Suddenly Cosmina took off and disappeared east and high over Toronto Street past the condo there, followed by Erin. Julian had stopped by on a break in time to see that. He ran over to Victoria Street to see if he could see them and surprisingly Anastasia perked up and seemed to follow them. However, she quickly made a loop and landed on the corner of the King Eddie, didn’t stay for long and did a few more loops around and ended up on the north side of the nest building where her sister came in and joined her. Still no food! I thought at that point Anastasia had done enough flying to deserve a meal but I guess not.
Paul came down and I left around 4:30 or so. I hope to hear that the girls got fed!
