Marion Nash Reports:
There was a feeding this afternoon for Dart by the time Mark and I got there Lucie said other than the feeding it was a very quite morning. I suppose after her fledge Tornado needed to get her nerve back and her bearings for the next flight and with a full crop Dart decided a nap was in order.
It rained on and off most of the afternoon and began to hail Dart never budged but Tornado ran and flapped back and forth the ledge yelling clearly hating the hail. After it stoped the sun came out for a short time and she settled down until about 3:30 when she started her hunger tantrum yelling at Mom for food. That lasted until mom could stand no more and took of hunting and in minutes came back with food, dropped it on the ledge at her feet and took back off the her usual spot on top of the web camera.
Just after 5:00 Tornado took to the air for another short flight moving over to the east tower 2 ledges over from the nest. At 5:30 Dart decided to take a flight and was joined by both adults for a niece flight around the east tower and was minutes later joined by his sister. The flight only lasted a minute and brother and sister landed on the east tower Tornado on the roof and Dart on the ledge next to the nest ledge. By 7:30 feeling very confident Tornado took another flight and landed on the roof of the west condo roof next door and sat there while mom brought in a food package for Dart she only stayed a short time and flew again to the east condo roof top.
When we left just after 9:00 PM Dart was still on the ledge beside the nest ledge and Tornado very much the big girl now was still on the east Condo tower roof top.
Lucie has just a few photos from this morning. Tornado on the Starlight ledge, mom preparing food on Starlight, mom takes food to Dart who is on the nest ledge but didn’t get any to Tornado.

Raindrops keep falling on my head. Me and a baby falcon don’t like getting wet. La la la. Young Tornado fledged this morning. She’s way up there on Starlight building and hopefully stays that way. The current showers have got her pretty antsy.

Lisa Reh Reports:
Another early morning watch for Wendy. One of the juveniles took a flight and ended up on a windowsill one level down. There was no sign of Compassion. Wendy reported at 8:41, that: “Compassion has been located at the top of a spruce tree on Pleasant Ave. Hopefully high enough to get some lift. Three juveniles were just fed and adults currently perched overhead.”
The watch was ramped up this morning, at 10:15, Sandye reported: “The three babies on the hospital are on the move! Lots of flapping and we think Care just flew from the left to the right and back!” and at 10:48, Care successfully flew around the hospital and landed on the green ledge under their usual spot. Compassion has flown from Pleasant Street and Tim went to look for her. 10 minutes later, Carla reported: “Compassion left his perch on Pleasant Avenue, and we lost sight of him. A car pulled up and said that the young falcon was on the road. Tim and Sandye went after him, and he flew and hit a sign, and landed just past the parking lot. They are rescuing him now and the police are there to assist from my vantage point.” Bryton again had to come and assess another downed falcon. Compassion will be held overnight and released in the morning! Another busy day for the incredible KW team!!

June 12, 2021 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower
Lisa Reh Reports:
It was an early start at just after 5:00 for Wendy who was first on the watch. She reported: “Food already brought in. All three juveniles were feeding. The parents were flying but are now perched on opposite ends of yellow railing.” Fraser joined the watch and reported that Care was successfully released at 8:10 and flew immediately. He made a short flight to another part of the roof and then a longer flight to circle around and join his siblings on the ledge. All 4 were reunited again!
The rest of the day was fairly uneventful, some wing flapping on the ledge and the adults making some nice flights trying to entice the juveniles to fly. At 8:41, Tara reported that Compassion flew and ended up about 12 feet up in a pine tree! He ended up coming to the ground and rescued, was released but went missing shortly after. The search will have to be continued in the morning.

Day 10! Sally & I arrived to find two juvies on the nest rooftop—Nico & Sydney! They were watching Bluey over on 240–good to see all three. And before you knew it, Bluey had joined his siblings! It was wonderful to see. Dad brought a package in and Mom quickly joined him and grabbed it and flew over to the copper building. Bluey was off and around 220 and over to the copper building at the back. His siblings quickly followed suit–first Nico, then Sidney. All quieted down. Sally and I had already decided that we were just doing a half day as everyone was doing great-nothing more for us to do, other than watch them fly and learn. So we packed up, Sally’s ride came and we decided to drive around to see the kids before we left. We found the boys on the copper building. All of a sudden Dad was in the air, flying over the copper building and 225 and back. The boys were off to chase Dad! Then out came Sydnedy and joined the fun! Dad disappeared, lol and the kids had some fun chasing each other. Sydney and one of the boys settled on the copper building rooftop and the other boy went over to 225 and settled on Dad’s spot! And there we left them. What a great way to close our watch. Sally and I were thrilled.
I want to thank Sally, Marion, Mark and Bob for all their hours of help. Thanks to Carolyn for helping me from time to time. And thanks to the security at 220, Ramesh and Mano, for all their support of us and our family here. Couldn’t have done it without them!
And so ends a very successful fledge watch 2021! Sally & I will definitely be doing as many spot checks as we can before Quest moves the kids out!
Stay high, stay safe little ones! It’s been a joy watching you!

No photos, no news because nothing happened. TORNADO is still on the nest ledge. We’re hoping for a fledge in the next couple of days. I found DART on his favourite ledge on ADP just before 8 pm. What a difference from last night! No flight activity, no air show. Mom brought food for TORNADO at around 8:30. She devoured it then Dad came in and ate as well. I didn’t see any food taken over to DART. I left at 9 pm. It was great to spend a few hours with Mark who came to keep watch on TORNADO and hopefully see some flight activity. Well .. tomorrow is another day. Cheers, Lucie

Mississauga MEC -Manuella flying well now
In a couple of days Manuella went from spending her nights in trees and bushes to meeting new friends on a condo tower to finally spending a safe night on the Morguard building.
Last night after Manuella unsuccessfully tried to snatch the kill from mom (last pic), she met up with Midnight on Morguard where Midnight intended to feed her baby; instead, Manuella bullied Midnight out of the kill and pushed her off the building. 45 minutes later, Midnight managed to grab the leftovers and fed herself. Manuella might be one to keep an eye on going forward.

Day 9! Sally reports:
Cathy and I arrived around 9:15am and did a drive around the buildings to spot the family. Two juvies found, on rooftops, but no third in sight. We decided to do a walkabout before settling down in our usual spot in the shade by building 225.
Both parents, and juvies were facing sort of north east. It was quiet as well, and we wondered if perhaps the third juvie was further out but within their site.
Our walkabout and patience allowed us to confirm Sydney (red) and Bluey (yellow). Great to see Sydney up high on a rooftop, as this was still only 24 hours since her first flight.
Enjoyed the juvies flying but we were distracted, as fledge watchers always are, by not seeing Nico (blue).
Watched Bluey take off and realized he intended to fly east over towards Don Mills Rd. Hmmm! Well, Mystery was not having that. He shot out after him, and then Quest followed. Both parents redirected him west and back to the cluster of buildings near the nest site. Some nice flying! An attempted “J” swoop up to a roof, missed it but recovered nicely.
Still feeling bothered by Nico’s absence, we drove around again, thinking maybe we’d drive over and up Graydon Hall drive to see if we could see where Quest, Mystery and Nico’s siblings seemed to be focusing their attention. Nothing.
The time flew, and we both had other commitments for mid-afternoon, As we were packing up, Mystery surprised us by swooping in very low, circled low around the Purolator parking lot. Very strange. Must have been a hunt (lots of birds in those trees!) and he flew back to 255 copper building (his favourite perch these days), empty-handed. Oh well, we knew Nico had been flying well and Marion was coming to watch into the evening, so we left trusting we’d either hear he had appeared, or we’d keep checking for him the next day.
A couple of hours later, Marion notified us that Nico was accounted for. Yay! He’d appeared on the very top of the copper building roof. Mystery showed up and got chased by Nico and Marion reports he’s flying great. They disappeared flying towards the condos. Mystery came back at close but no Nico. Sydney and Bluey settled down on 240 for the night. No food was delivered by the time Marion left.
Should be a good day of flying tomorrow.
Sally
