May 06, 2011 - New York - Prescott-Ogdensburg Bridge
CPF Postmaster Reports:
While we haven’t had any news from Mary Beth for some time, it has been reported by Eve that Zanar (hatched in Rochester NY in 2006) and her mate are currently incubating 4 eggs again this year on the bridge. We are to understand that they are currently being monitored by Mary Beth Warburton from New York State. We do not know which site of the bridge the birds have set up house on this year - (the Canadian or American side) and have no idea as to when the eggs were laid adn when ful time incubation started.
We can only hope that the final out come is better than last year!
Hopefully we’ll receive some news of the happenings.
Stay tuned…..

May 06, 2011 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
No eggs as of yet in Ottawa in spite of mating being observed. Both peregrines are staying faithful to the hotel but there is still construction on the roof of the Constitution Square and nearby which may be upsetting their routines.
By the way, the Crowne Plaza Hotel is now known as the Delta Ottawa City Centre.

May 06, 2011 - Etobicoke - William Osler
Tracy Simpson Reports:
When I arrived at the William Osler Hospital site, Hurricane, the resident male, was perched atop the east facing “H” preening himself after having a recent meal ( obvious by the size of his crop! ). I proceeded up to the hatch to look through the peep hole for signs of a hatch and the female was hunkered down on the eggs. It would appear that she had just recently returned to her incubation duties with her own equally full crop. I waited for the female to reposition herself and was fortunate to see at least three eggs that she is currently caring for. Certainly no flash of white that would indicate that we have a hatch here yet but definately three very healthly sized eggs at least. A big thank you to the staff and security at the William Osler Hospital for their support of this nesting pair! Keep checking back as we will be monitoring this site, among several others, that are due for a hatch any day now.

May 06, 2011 - Mississauga - Executive Centre
Tracy Simpson Reports:
I was on-site at the Mississauga Executive Centre today to check on the progress of the nesting pair and their clutch of three eggs. When I arrived at the site, the resident female was on MEC 2 having just consumed a meal which meant the male was on incubation duty. I went up to check the monitor and the male was huddled down on the eggs but not entirely settled. The male was keeping his body arched overtop of the eggs as if something was moving beneath him. It was very evident after watching him for about 1 hour, that he wasn’t going to lay down on the eggs enough to be comfortable. He shifted and shuffled several times and although he looked like a nap would have suited him just fine, a snooze wasn’t going to happen as he continued to reposition himself. When the female came in to relieve him, the three eggs were clearly in view and I couldn’t see any evidence of a pending hatch as of yet. Even though there was no hatch today, I suspect that it is not far off now and we will keep you updated.

May 06, 2011 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Tracy Simpson Reports:
I went out to the Burlington Lift Bridge today to check on the progress of the resident pair and their clutch of eggs. I was able to take a look in the nest box and was delighted to see that Cirrus was brooding two newly hatched young. One of the chicks appears to have hatched the previous evening while the other had more physical control indicating that it probably hatched on Wednesday May 4th, which ties into previous observations of the restlessness of the resident female on May 4th by Sue and Bill. I could clearly see that there is still one egg left to hatch and Sir Adam was watching from the other side of the lift bridge as Cirrus gingerly tucked them beneath the warmth of her feathers. A big thank you to the (PWGSC) Public Works & Government Services of Canada for being so supportive of the nesting pair. Way to go Cirrus and Sir Adam!!!

May 06, 2011 - Toronto - King Street
Mark Nash Reports:
May 6th - 2011
We have just received updated news from Linda who is currently on site at the King Street nest site. While the camera continues to operate just fine and is providing us with a great colour image on the live on-site monitor, we are still unable to get internet service to deliver the images to the CPF web site and the www. We have just learned from one of the building engineers that Rogers Cable folks have been down and been told that their major “Router” needs to be replaced. This is not the small black Rogers router that we plug into to get to the internet service.
Sadly, there is nothing that we can do at this point until the Rogers service is fixed, and as such we will not be able to provide the live updates until the service is fixed.
As of this morning, there is still not a hatch and we remain hopeful that we can get service soon so we can all see detailed happenings of the activity on the nest ledge.
Stay tuned……

May 05, 2011 - Etobicoke - William Osler
Mark Nash Reports:
May 5th - 2011
Doing the rounds today and stopped into the William Osler nest site this afternoon to find the resident adult female still in hard incubation mode. I watched her for close to half an hour again today and she never stirred and inch. Despite the sunny warm conditions, the blustery winds had loose feathers swirling around the nest tray.
As we watched her through the peep hole, she gave us the evil eye quite aware that we were watching her. If looks could kill, I likely wouldn’t be filing this report!
Expecting a hatch soon, so stay tuned…..

May 05, 2011 - Mississauga - Executive Centre
Mark Nash Reports:
May 5th - 2011
I attended MEC today to check the camera monitor and the birds progress. Just arrived at a shift chance but couldn’t get the camera out in time to snap a shot of the three eggs. Thank goodness for the camera phone and I was able to get this photo before the adult settled down on the three eggs. Interestingly, two of the eggs are a strong reddish colour - (typical of what we usually see), and the third egg is almost pure white.
As you can see, the camera is working just fine, but we’re still having problems with the computer that processes the camera image and delivers it to the CPF web site. We’re still working on it!
Hatch is very soon, Stay tuned…………
We are still planning to replace the aging camera at this site with one of the newer IP cameras as soon as money becomes available so we can get ride of the computer, as they have always been the weakest link and our biggest problem at all of the nest sites where we have cameras!!

Tiago just brought in some supper and there are definitely 4 eyases! One is clearly much younger, but quite active, though Rhea Mae had to move it back into the pile before brooding them.
Congratulations!
