!!! Could be egg(s)??? Has incubation started?

March 27, 2012 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre

CPF Postmaster Reports:

Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Good morning,
7:15 a.m. — The weather is bitterly cold this morning. The cries of the gulls can be heard mingling with the busy traffic noises at street level. One lone adult falcon is perched on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel. I’m at street level and cannot detect the presence of its mate. I search the surrounding rooftops for another falcon but I come up empty-handed. Time will tell if we will be fortunate enough to experience a “Falcon Watch” this year.
Take care,
N. McKenna

Looking forward to eggs!

March 26, 2012 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre

CPF Postmaster Reports:

Monday, March 26, 2012 - (7:20 a.m.)
Good morning,
Gusts of wind propel pedestrians forward on ground level but high above an adult is comfortably perched on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel. The falcon is facing inward this morning and keeping watch on its urban cliff.
Take care,
N. McKenna

!!! Mating observed again the Brampton Courthouse! Egg production will be very soon!

March 27, 2012 - Brampton - Courthouse

CPF Postmaster Reports:

March 27th-2012
A pretty good day today.

I first spotted Milton who landed on an antenna on the NE corner of the Court House. He took off towards the nest site but I couldn’t see anything. Once the traffic died down a bit I heard calling coming from the nest area but still couldn’t see anything. Then Milton popped up, did his hunchback walk along the ledge then down again. Then more calling. It sounded like more than one PG was there. Sure enough a different PG pops up, does a hunchback walk then back down again. More calling; sounded kinda like a small dog barking; a vocalization new to me. After about 15 minutes the female flys up a ledge and feeds off a cache. Milton flys to the West and is followed by the female who drops her leftovers into the trees.

So I can tell this female is not Courtney as it is a full adult. I also don’t think it is Truss since the colour is a bit off and I can’t see any bands on it. Time will tell!! Photos to follow.
Stay tuned………

Linn and Rueben Close to Eggs at Yellow Pages.

March 26, 2012 - Scarborough - Yellow Pages

Tracy Simpson Reports:

Yesterday when I arrived at the Yellow Pages nest site, I found Linn on the southwest corner of the building whining for Rueben.  She was down in the “shoulder” which the pair use for nesting and at first I couldn’t see Rueben.  I saw something on the pipes of the roof, took a picture but initially dismissed it as a part of the structure.  After looking at the pic, I realized that it was in fact Rueben looking like a windblown puffball.  Indeed the winds were high and Rueben took off to the southwest for another perch.  Linn followed shortly only to return to the same spot as she was before.  A few minutes later, up to the pipes she went where she slept for a good hour.  I went in and spoke to Paul at security who has been exceptionally helpful with observations and support ( thanks Paul! ) and back out I went for a few more observations before leaving.  It is quite clear that they have chosen this particular side ( southwest ) this year in contrast to the northwest site they had chosen last year.  As I was leaving, Linn was on the pipes above her chosen site and Rueben flew in and landed on the nest ledge corner.  I am sure that no eggs are currently in the nest based on the behaviour of the pair but looking at Linn, they are not far off I’m sure!!  In the picture I posted of the building, please note the yellow circle I placed over the spot the pair have chosen.

A Second Egg for Rhea Mae and Tiago!

March 27, 2012 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Tracy Simpson Reports:

Finishing up some things to bolt out the door and thought I’d check the Toronto Sheraton cam. Lo and behold, I caught them changing over and there is indeed a second egg. Looks like this pair is right on schedule!!

March 01, 2012 - Hamilton - Sheraton Hotel

CPF Postmaster Reports:

With thanks to Stuart Lee for sending in this great close-up shot of a unidentified peregrine falcon that obviously was peeking through the window, just at the right time.
Great close-up shot!
Thanks Stuart!

Second Egg expected today

March 26, 2012 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Linda Woods Reports:

A quick look at the web cam this morning at 10:15 am. Rhea Mae must be off for a feed and fly around, while Tiago watches over the single egg.

A second egg is expected  late today or through the over night hours, if they maintain an egg every other day.  Keep watching.

Adults not in view

March 26, 2012 - Toronto - King Street

Linda Woods Reports:

I dropped by the King St nest site early this morning and did not see either adult. Not sure where they are sitting when not on the nesting area. Temporary Spring time maintenance of building roof tops in the area, have them sitting out of sight for the time being.
