Kathy Reports:
Quick check on afternoon break and I was just treated to the sight of Jack and Angel having a little play session in the air! It’s a gorgeous sunny and windy day today and I saw Jack riding the wind up above the building. A minute later he went the ledge and chupped something to Angel and flew off.
She jumped out of the nestbox and took to the air with him right above us, they flew around together very tightly in perfect rythmn..it was spectacular to watch. He flipped upside down and they did the touch talons and then righted himself and they did a loop together..it was like watching a dance! Then a bit of a soar together around the building and then she flew back to the ledge … another chup and she settled herself back in the box.
It’s moments like this that make the sore neck and the frustration of not being able to see anything that make it all worthwhile!

Kathy Reports:
Yesterday afternoon I caught mom zooming out of the box down the road to deal with three TV’s in the air. No messing around with our girl, she was fast and efficient. She kacking all the way there and struck two of them immediately - one actually fell a few feet before recovering. The third one flew for his life and she immediately flew back to the ledge, gave herself a shake and climbed back into the nestbox!
This morning one of them was on the webcam but I didn’t have my binoculars so couldn’t make out who it was. A pigeon actually tried to land at the nestbox and whoever was on the cam barely blinked so I”m going to go out on a limb and say we are still awaiting a hatch. Although the pigeons aren’t a threat to them - I think one making it that close to the nestbox if there was a baby in there would have been suicidal. Jack is now on his normal sign perch, I see mom’s tail feathers sticking out of the box and we continue to wait and observe.

May 04, 2010 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
Diana is brooding in the same location as last year, at the southeast end of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Due to the delays, I think the hatching will take place in the first week of June, with the Falcon Watch starting closer to the end of June. Stay tuned for updates as we get them.

CPF Postmaster Reports:
Finally caught a glimpse of the eyases while they had a bedtime snack.
Still appears to be 3 and an egg. While Rhea Mae (or was it Tiago?) took out the trash, one decides to look around…not quite ready for bed

Kathy Reports:
Just when I was all confident that I was on the right track , I find now that I am more confused than ever. Last report had Jack here constantly and a lot of activity however the only food I saw go to the ledge was taken by Angel immediately and she flew off with it…or perhaps I was mistaken ?
Sunday I was her for 2.5 hours and did catch a shift change however Angel only went to the webcam and didn’t leave the ledge due to the rain. Yesterday and today I have seen Jack sporadically unlike Friday through Sunday when he was here for hours. I haven’t seen him taking food to the ledge at all but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t as I am not able to monitor for long periods of time during the week so I may just be missing him.
That being said, last night and this morning when I looked up to the nestbox I saw nothing..not a tail feather sticking out nor a wing and yet both times after a few minutes he flew out of the nestbox, vocalized to who I am assuming was Angel in the nestbox and off he went. What was he doing in the nestbox with her? Checking to see if he had any hatches? Visiting with hidden eyases, bringing them food? Just how deep is that nestbox?!
I can see quite clearly her tail feathers and the tips of both wings from the ground this morning so she is sitting high up again as she has the past few days. Perhaps given that he’s running two site, they are being more protective and secretive than normal not to attract unwanted attention. She has a pretty solid history of hatching out her chicks 30 days from the start of incubation however everything has been so different here the past year and without the cam for backup - I am in the dark so to speak!
I will keep watching a few more days and if nothing becomes overtly obvious, we will attempt to make another trip to a nearby rooftop to confirm or deny the presence of chicks.

April 30, 2010 - Niagara Falls
CPF Postmaster Reports:
As best as we can guess from the dates and time lines based on the reports that we received from our good friends at the DEC out of Buffalo New York, there should have a hatch by now. While it was confirmed that the peregrines are in fact nesting at the decommissioned Ontario Power Station facility in the Niagara gorge, the small opening in the wall face where the peregrines have been nesting, makes it only visible from the US side, and it requires very strong magnification to see across the gorge to the wall face of the old OPG plant to see the nest opening. We can only hope that we get additional observation reports of food being taken into the nest by the adults that would confirm that there has been a hatch. The old OPG plant has long since been turned over to the Niagara Parks Commission who have yet to do anything with the old facility.

May 03, 2010 - Etobicoke - William Osler
CPF Postmaster Reports:
With many thanks to Bruce, three hours of observations paid off this morning as he was able to confiorm the hostpitals report of two more eggs in the nest tray being incubated and tended to by both adults.
Bruce was able to confirm the the resident male is still Hurricane, the little male that was produced at the Toronto Sheraton Hotel back in 2004 and showed up at the William Osler Hospital in 2007. He has been the territorial resident at this nest site ever since. His female mate dawns a Black over green band - (still yet to be identified) and a purple coloured USFW band. Bruce whitnessed a changing of the guard at approx. 11am and it appears that both adults are in fact sharing the incubating duties.
Stay tuned………….

Doug Garbutt Reports:
Well, the 4 eggs that were produced here by late March & were destroyed have since been replaced by 3 new ones. I think that the new clutch is complete as the female is in full incubation mode, hardly getting off the eggs at all. We have our fingers crossed for a late fledge of falcons.

Linda Woods Reports:
Incubation continues. A hatch should be soon. Keep your eyes on the webcam and please report any important observations and by all means send any images that you capture off the webcam, should you see a hatch.

May 03, 2010 - Toronto - Mount Sinai Hospital
Linda Woods Reports:
Monitoring continues and it appears so is the incubation. They have been consistent and frequenting the same area now for weeks, which indicates that they are indeed incubating. Today, both adults were in view. One on the “nest” while the second was ”busy” in the far reaches of the adjacent ledge. I could not clearly see what it was doing, but he was there for a while. Monitoring will continue and will increase as it nears to an expectant hatch date.
Stayed tuned.
