April 03, 2014 - Mississauga - Holcim
Tracy Simpson Reports:
Yesterday I was out delivering Project School Visit in Clarkson and had time between schools to stop by and visit the Holcim nest site for a check on Storm and Caspian. When I arrived, Storm was on the top of the east silos and had prey he was plucking. I was able to quickly confirm his band number before he was off and over to the ledge with the food. As he sat on the corner with his gift, his female stood up and waddled over to accept. He flew to a railing out of my sight and she flew to the buildings next to Avonhead Road to eat. It took her a while to consume her meal and she looked half asleep as she went along. Egg lethargy was quite apparent in this girl. I again got lucky and was able to confirm Caspian as the resident female while she snacked away. She finished her meal and disappeared into the ledge on which she ate and it wasn’t long before Storm was in and the two mated. He then flew up to the nest ledge while she maintained her position on the lower silos.
They were both off of the ledge for over 30 minutes and with a steady stream of Turkey vultures flying overhead I feel confident in saying that they don’t have eggs yet but they are oh so close.
Pictures to follow.

April 2nd - 2014
Some great news this evening, as we are now seeing RM down on incubation duties at the Toronto Sheraton Hotel. Sadly, I missed the an opportunity to capture the web cam shot when she stood up for a brief second to adjust herself, disclosing her newly laid egg. While the viewing was in the darkness, the inferred camera image clearly showed the single egg in the nest tray.
Congratulations Toronto Sheraton!!!
Hopefully their global audience can snap some decent shots tomorrow in the day light and send them to us for posting!!

Laid at 2:49 pm as per mwplay over at BCAW who notified me! Apologies for the less than stellar screen shot but it’s dark in the nest box and I had to lighten it quite a bit to see the egg.

CPF Volunteer Reports:
Wednesday April 2rd - 2014 - 12 Noon Update
A quickly look-in at the T & RM to see if they have any eggs. Nothing spotted yet as of 12:50pm this afternoon. While both resident adults were observed on the nest ledge and RM poised in the nest tray itself, moments after snapping these photos, both birds took flight giving us a close-up view of the nest tray.
No eggs, as yet.
Stay tuned………

Kathy Reports:
The past 2 days O’Connor and Jack seem to be sitting tight on their 2 eggs during the day but overnight and in the early mornings no one has been on the eggs. I am still only seeing 2 eggs in the nest box and given their behaviour I”m inclined to think there really are only 2.
After consulting with our CPF expert, she suggested they may be delaying due to the weather. As I came in a few minutes ago, Jack had just arrived and I observed some mating on the condo tower. So we wait. It really has been a cold Spring and the temperature fluctuations will no doubt affect all our nest sites this year.
