June 18th fledge watch winds down

June 19, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

All was quiet on the home front yesterday.
Braveheart was seen flying around a bit and was “allowed” back in the nest by the girls.
Girls did a lot of wing flapping but no flying.
Thanks to Maggie Pawlak for the pictures.

Hi Marion,
Just a note to advise that we have ended our Fledge Watch but everyone will be monitoring around the buildings over the next few days to make sure there are no fledgeling accidents, etc. All 4 were gone from the nest as of yesterday morning and Duchess and Braveheart were spotted with dad, Indie, on the top ledge yesterday evening where he was enjoying his meal and ignoring the chicks. We released Diana on Thursday about 10 pm on the rooftop of 288 and surprisingly we could hear mom, Aria, circling in the dark above us and squawking. She’s an amazing mom!
Just a little concerned that we haven’t seen Victoria at all nor Diana after her release. Hopefully mom knows where they are and is looking after them.

Report from Cody Evans about Noah

June 17, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

Hey got some funny news about Noah I was sitting at fanshawe watching an Osprey in a tree getting ready to fish and along he comes and dive bombs the osprey in the tree then landed in the tree here for about 40 mins before he flew off ! I saw a peregrine here last year that looks the same as him also would have been septemberish ! What a coincidence I’ll send a pic when I get home maybe he’s living in the London area ♂

Report Aria and Indie’s chicks June 16th

June 17, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

What an exciting afternoon! After Diana went missing this morning, she was reported seen by a resident this afternoon, sitting on top of the entrance to the garage. After attempting to fly from there, she was unable to get enough lift so came to ground in the parking lot . We prevented her from walking across towards the road. and then she flew low to just in front of the Clubhouse where she got herself caught up in the shrubs where Patrick was able to catch her with the towel and we immediately placed her in the pet carrier. She will be released tonight on the rooftop when it gets dark where she will stay until first light when Mom & Dad will take over.
Thanks to all involved in the rescue.
Barb

Updates Etobicoke Private Residence chicks fledging

June 13, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

Sunday update
I just wanted to report that we had our first fledge this afternoon. Our one male, Braveheart, successfully left his ledge and flew to one of the balconies on the west side of the 288 building. He’s a good, strong flyer although seems a little confused as to where to fly to. Mom, Aria, was circling above him and giving direction and he eventually flew to 2 other balconies before heading to the east side of the building where he is now. He has been sitting on this balcony for a few hours and I’m a little concerned for the night.
Hope he’s ok.
3 more to go. It will be a busy few days.

Barb Blair

Monday update
Good Morning, Everyone!

Lots of exciting news already this morning.
Barb and Alex witnessed Duchess fly off the nest this morning, flew around the trees behind 288 and then back to the nest.

BUT…..we can’t find Braveheart anywhere this morning
Had flown off the balcony on 296 late yesterday afternoon and landed on a front balcony on 288 where he was still around 9:00 PM last night.
So please have an eye…….

In the meantime, Duchess is back on the ledge and Victoria and Diana are busy flapping their wings.
Maybe they will fly today too???????

June 07, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

Mother keeps chasing Braveheart off the ledge where he likes to hang out.
We are thinking he might be the first to fledge on the weekend…if he can wait that long.

Two of the girls are madly flapping their wings to demonstrate they too are getting ready for their flights.
Get’s lots of the white fluffy fur off them.

The remaining one still has lots of white fluff on her.

Our Chicks are doing fine and growing nicely.

May 18, 2022 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1

Marion Nash Reports:

Here are a couple of pictures taken by my fellow photographer Maggie Pawlak.
Aria feeding her young ones while Indie watches, then takes the food and flies
off with it to feed herself.

The last picture was taken on Tuesday evening and shows just how much they
have grown already, and….we can even see some black feathers poking thru.
