Good news for the Hamilton Sheraton hotel this morning after a quick check of the cams and doing the rounds of the various southern Ontario nest sites Madam X and Surge have produced their first egg at the Hamilton Sheraton hotel for 2014.
Congratulations Hamilton Sheraton Hotel!
Stay tuned for further developments…………..
Thanks to SGB at BCAW who caught this morning photo of two eggs! I was watching her earlier but she wasn’t showing anything
First egg for Windwhistler and Erin.
Egg #2 just arrived at 5:21 pm!
Image taken this afternoon at 4:25p.m. Look what’s under her tail. I think we have an egg at last.
A cold wet spring day and Quest is doing what a good peregrine mom should do and keeping the egg warm.
After standing in the nest bowl for hours and falling asleep, Erin woke up and is now standing on the ledge. No egg in the bowl, not yet.
This is typical of egg laying behaviour. I’ve seen Erin lying down behind the pillar for extended periods of time for the past week, but no eggs. I have not seen her standing near the nest bowl after dusk, yet like she is now. Erin and Windwhistler may be close to having an egg this evening.
Thank-you Kathy for posting. I don’t think there is an egg as of yet. The nest bowl is towards the camera by the pillar. Erin is clearly seen lying down in the nest bowl, but there doesn’t appear to be egg(s) yet. Erin has been doing this behaviour for close to a week now without having an egg in the nest scrape.
I’ve also noticed that there is no clear hand off of the nest by Windwhistler. He comes to the ledge but does not take a turn the lying down anywhere behind the pillar. The image posted may be a “play of light “at the wall, by the redbrick structure and the different colours of debris on the ledge.
We are all watching with anticipation for the first egg and welcome the first one to post the news.
