Zoe Berger Reports:
Cosmina fledged with nobody watching probably early Wednesday morning. Somebody at the King Edward Hotel called in advising a peregrine was stuck on one of their new balconies. After many other calls to make arrangements Neil, Evan and I got the rescue box and met Linda in the lobby where security took us up to the unit. Cosmina was very determined not to be put in the box and Linda persisted with great courage and expertise and with 3 towels going in the box she was finally put. She is a beautiful, huge and very spirited chick. We met Paul who was checking the area and we filled him in. Cosmina appeared to have a droopy wing so after she rests for the day in the box and Mark checks her out she will either go back on the nest building or off to the doctor. To be determined. As her sister is not ready to fly we finished the watch for the day.

June 18th- 2013
After days of wondering whether little “Lucky” was still around - (and safe and sound), he finally showed himself today and gave us all a breath of fresh air - so to speak.
Persistence finally paid off as Cathy and Irma were able to confirm that little “Lucky’ is still very much alive and well, still atop of the nest building roof top.
Although his sister has not been so visible, we highly suspect given the resident adults behaviour and actions that she is still atop of the upper roof area where she was released with her brother the day of the banding. Its a huge roof top and lots of new places and spaces to investigate.
No flights witnessed again today as they appear to be very content with their roof top observation point. both parents are still very much on site and attending to their needs. Food was brought in at least once during our observations throughout the days fledge watch.
Stay tuned……….
Attached are some of the days photos of Lucky, taken and supplied by Cathy Kerr

June 18th - 2013
What started out to be a rainy, cold and really miserable morning, I can say that it is at least a really peaceful time at 6am on the streets at the fledge watch.
Shortly after it stopped raining, the sun came up and things quickly changed with lots of vocalizing going on at the nest ledge as the two remaining nest ledge bound hatchlings were full of energy, flapping and screaming at their parents most of the day.
By darkness, neither had taken their first flights and remained on the nest ledge.
Kimami, still on the upper roof area throughout the morning obviously having spent the night at this elevation where I had been released the day before, she was constantly being teased by her parents in an effort to get her to start flying.
Finally, in the early afternoon, Kimami got blown off the upper roof ledgeledge of the nest building by one of the many guests of wind, and once again was airborne,, losing altitude as she glided downward across the street past our position and finally ended up clinging to the side of the building wall at the rear of the 225 Duncan Mill road building,, - She was successfully rescued and retrieved and was later re-released, this time atop of the 225 Duncan Mill roof.
Quest was on hand almost immediately upon my entrance to the roof area and needless to say voiced her objections to my presence on the roof during Kimami’s release.
Kimimi remained on the upper roof as darkness fell and quickly settled in for the night.
Quest fed all of hatchlings on different times throughout the day, and although the food packages were small offerings, she did in fact beak-feed each of them all in several very heart warming mother - daughter family moments.
Again, a huge thanks you to all for their support throughout the day!
Throughout the day, I was also able to deliver the rescued fledgling from the Etobicoke Bloor and Islington nest site (that Bruce had transferred to me last night) -to meet up with mark Heaton from the OMNR at the MEC nest site in Mississauga, so he could band it with the missing Black Canadian recovery band, the then get her back to the Etobicoke nest site and do the release on the nest building roof top, back to her awaiting parents! Another successful release this evening!
Stay tuned, more to come tomorrow……

Linda Woods Reports:
Yet another very quiet afternoon evening. Felix disappears and has not been seen. Very to no activity in the area and nest ledge from both Rhea Mae and Tigao I guess Rhea Mae knows where he is and is tending to him. Welcome and Gurdy were only feed once this evening at 9p.m. just in time to go to bed. After the food drop the adult went to sit on the letters on the Hotel and the two remaining juvies went out of view.
Many trips to the Club Lounge to scan the roof tops of near by buildings for the adults, which may have given us an indication of where Felix may have gone. Both Rhea Mae and Tiago remained elusive this afternoon and evening.
Hopefully Felix will make an appearance at daylight.

June 17, 2013 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower
Lisa Reh Reports:
Everyone was safe & sound at first light. Arnie finally flew from the middle of the tower (where he was last night when Rudy left him at 9:30) right back into the nest drum. Big Al joined him a few minutes later. Hunger probably drove them back to familiar territory. All chicks were in the drum when Statler arrived with food at 8:00 am. When Karen hit the watch at 10:00, both boys were on the top platform and Miss Fran was by herself in the drum. One of the adults was either in the tower or very nearby. The adults then flew to the nest box on Union Street.
Dale was on the watch when at 5:10 p.m. Miss Fran took her first flight!!! She flew back to the centre struts of the tower, below the nest box! She was staying put as the boys tested their wings a few more times. When they got too far out Caster swooped in and escorted them back to the upper level of the tower. Statler fed both boys after Miss Fran’s first flight. After all the excitement Caster went back to his usually resting place in the nest box on Union St. while Statler babysat.
From 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Miss Fran stayed in the middle of the tower, while Arnie, Big Al and Statler were on the top platform. Both boys took some flights. One of them took 2 flights earlier, and then stayed on the very top metal rack in the center. The other also took quite a number of flights. Caster then delivered food, stayed for a while, and took off. Statler made some quick preparations and flew to the aerial immediately to the south. The boy on the top metal rack stayed but didn’t eat. The second boy eventually hopped out, took more flights, and joined mom on the other aerial. Judging from the flight ability, it was probably Big Al. Another big day for our young family of falcons! Congratulations Miss Fran!!!

June 16, 2013 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower
Lisa Reh Reports:
The fledge watch witnessed some spectacular flying today as Big Al took at least 7 flights by mid afternoon and was flying fairly confidently even against strong winds! In the morning Caster took him out and fed him and then took refuge in the nest box to keep a look out from a distance. Statler was teaching him some more advanced manoeuvres. Arnie and Fran were safely in the drum in the early afternoon with Statler on the right hand corner of the platform keeping watch.
In the late afternoon, when Jon and Debbie started their watch, Caster was in his favourite perch in the nest box on Union Street. Statler and Big Al were on the roof of the communications tower as Arnie and Miss Fran were busy in the nest flapping wings, hopping around, and feeding on leftover food. Big Al took off for some test flights, each time successfully returning to his starting point. Caster flew from the nest box to join in the fun. Meanwhile, Arnie and Miss Fran watched attentively, flapping their wings hard in the drum. The parents started to get a little more active, making occasional hunting trips. An osprey flew over and away towards the Grand River. The parents gave chase and attacked it repeatedly. Eventually both parents left to go shopping for dinner. Arnie flew south out of the nest at 4:48pm, flapping hard!!! Within seconds, Big Al flew out too, and together they turned and flew back to the tower. Arnie landed perfectly, perching half-way down, and Big Al joined him. There was a good deal of screeching. It was quite a transition for Arnie from couching it in the drum to balancing himself on a metal bar with nothing underneath. Big brother Al helped him out by showing him the finer points of balancing.
Big Al was out for a flight again, and after playing with Caster for a few seconds, Statler returned with a banded pigeon. Big Al went straight to the kitchen, the platform above the drum, and feathers began to fly as dinner was prepared. Statler mouth fed Big Al, and then left him to dine alone for an hour until a rather brave and greedy seagull tried to interrupt his meal. All was well at 9:30 p.m. when the fledge watch ended, with all birds safe and accounted for. What a grand day for the family and for the fledge watch team!!!

Harry Crawford Reports:
Day 4 - morning shift.
The early morning rain seemed to slow the chicks down. Even when
the sun came out, there was very little flapping and running on their
ledge. Mom went in around 10:15 but I couldn’t see if she had any
food. The chicks disappeared from view for about 45 minutes after
mom left. Perhaps all the maintenance and construction in the area
may be having an effect. We are monitoring this.

Marion Nash Reports:
Early this morning the little male Ramjet marked with white tape on his band jumped down off the nest to the ledge below we call the nest balcony where he spent the entire day running back and forth flapping close to the edge.
The 2 girls did a little flapping and popped up when ever the parents were in site but for the most part remained quiet.
Ramjet will likely take his first flight soon stay tuned.

CPF Postmaster Reports:
Attention all fledge watchers and peregrine enthusiasts! The fledge watches have started and we need your help!
June 17th - 2013
As some of you may be aware, we are currently eyeball deep in 7 different fledge watches that are now running simultaneously, and needless to say, we are incredibly stressed for manpower to cover all of the fledge watches. Never in the 17 years that we have been running fledge watches have we ever had this many fledge watches occurring all at the same time.
This in addition to having so many nest sites to deal with where the hatches have all happened within such a short period of time, thus having all of the young fledge at the same time.
While the season has only just started, we have already rescued and saved 9 fledglings from the ground and returned them back to the rooftops and nest ledges back to their parents care.
That being said, we need your support to join us in the streets at one of many nest sites here in the GTA.
You will see members of the fledge watch team in the streets at the following nest sites:
Please bear in mind that we are limited in volunteers currently at some of these sites and you may have to do some searching for us as some of these sites have vast areas to cover.
Please join us and help us help your young peregrines make it through this challenging time.
