Breaking News!!! Our First Hatch of 2012 Has Arrived!!!

Out, about and participating in Earth Week celebrations, Frank and I decided to stop in at the Mississauga Executive Centre for a peek at the monitor. The unbanded pair at this site were quick to begin the nesting season this year and were in full time incubation by March 15th and so a hatch was expected any day now. When I first checked the monitor, I found a hunch backed adult looking excrutiatingly uncomfortable and unsettled. I only had to wait a few minutes for the first little head to appear. Looking at the photo I’ve taken of the monitor, you can just make out the small, white head poking out from under the adult female’s wing. When I made my way back outside, Eternity was sitting to the right of the box on the nest ledge looking ever the proud father. Congratulations MEC, you are the first!!!!!
