April 22, 2009 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Mark Nash Reports:
We have been experiencing new challenges with the software on the PC that processes the camera images and sends them to the CPF web site. Please bear with us as we are working on the problem and hope to have it fixed shortly. As of today, (and due in part to the cold, rainy and windy temperatures) the adult female was still in full time hard incubation mode and not giving us any further peeks as to her clutch size. Stay tuned…

April 22, 2009 - Hamilton - Sheraton Hotel
Sarah Washington Reports:
The incubation continues at the Hamilton Sheraton Hotel. Madame X and Surge have both been sharing the in cubation duties at the nest site. Both parents will in fact share the incubation duties, which is nice so that mom can have a well deserved rest.
Fingers crossed for hatches soon!

Kathy Majich reports: I was outing checking on our pair about 11:30 ish and mom was in her box and dad on the cam. All of a sudden around the corner came another falcon. He seemed to realize the error of his ways awfully quickly because he whizzed around the back of the condo next door. Dad flew off the cam fast in hot pursuit of him, then interloper flew out from back of condos towards the road with dad hot on his heels and both headed down the road (up in the air of course) towards the Kingsway. I saw dad hit him but the intruder just flew for his life and both vanished.
The 3rd falcon was probably just a migrator, passing through because both resident adults were back in their positions e-chupping away and suddenly they were mating again. So all is progressing well here!

April 21, 2009 - Port Colborne - ADM Mill
Doug Garbutt Reports:
Very early in March this year as I walked towards the mill from the parking lot I heard falcon sounds I’d never heard before. I believe the falcon making the sounds was in distress. It was still dark out & I could not see any activity but I knew the sounds were coming from the grain elevator next to ours. When it got slightly lighter outside, one worker caught glimpses of 2 falcons diving at eachother at extremely high rates of speed. I didn’t know at the time but I am assuming that this was infact a terretorial dispute as our resident tiercel (Freedom) has been displaced by a younger falcon (unnamed). We were able to ID this bird thaks to Carol Phillips from Rochester & The N.Y. State D.E.C. They confirmed that the bird was produced & banded at the Statler bldg. in Buffalo 2007. The resident female here is still “Millie” from the St. Lawrence Plant in Mississauga (also a 2007 bird). Millie has produced 4 eggs between Mar. 30 & Apr. 7 this year when full incubation commenced. Unlike Freedom who spent much of his time hunting on the west side of our facility where we could observe & photograph him, the new bird has chosen to stay on the east side of the building, making it difficult to track his actions. He has though taken part on tending to the eggs but not nearly as much as Freedom would.

Linda Woods Reports:
A quick visit to the Sheraton nest to try a capture a photo of the four eggs, and yet again no luck. The cool temperatures and the driving rain has the adults tight on the nest. The weather is expected to be warmer by the week -end and perhaps I”ll have better luck then.
