Very active and inquisitive

June 10, 2008 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Linda Woods Reports:

Our apologies for not having live images of the nest ledge. We are working to resolve the issue. Stay tuned.

The three young ones are very active, inquisitive and always bring a smile when I observe them.
Belle appears to be a bit of a “Prima Donna” preening constantly and always preferrs to sit on the lip of the nest tray.
Unity enjoys stamping his feet, as if he were Tom Cruise dancing in the movie “Risky Busiess”
and Lily, she sits back, flips her head upside down and watches the others doing silly things.
It’s amazing to observe them exploring the large nest ledge. Every feather, fluff and bits of previous meals are picked up with their beaks, examined and then dropped only to be picked up by one of the other two chicks and re examined.

Rhea Mae is always seen in the area, I don’t know where Tiago is. I haven’t seen the two adults at the same time since the banding.

!!! DON’T PANIC - All is well!

June 09, 2008 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre

CPF Volunteer Reports:

Dont panic folks..all is well. The photos show one young Peregrine sprawled out,in what appears to be an unnatural position, like it may be in trouble. The latter picture shows all 3 are fine. The Peregrine sometimes lay flattened right out,we presume to cool off. Its normal..we observe it every year so please dont worry.

Reminder that falcon watch begins tomorrow, June 10th. Anyone watching the live web cam knows these birds are just about ready to try to fly. Much flapping observed this morning, the young are moving around the ledge quite a bit now. Image taken after 8am, food brought in.

Its VERY Hot and Muggy!!

April 14, 2009 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre

Mark Nash Reports:

All is well at the Etobicoke nest ledge, but the heat is quite appearant as the three hatchlings Perry, Sunny and Screech are also having the same challenges dealing with the heat and humidity. Pictured is the three young hatchlings taking it easy on the nest ledge. The heat and humidity are tough on everyone!

4 on the ledge

June 08, 2008 - Hamilton - Sheraton Hotel

Sarah Washington Reports:

Well today was quite a day for the chicks. After 530p, our 4th baby got on up on the ledge. So now is when the fun starts. Plus we also had a bad storm and they all seemed no worse for wear, although it is a nervous time.

I would also like to take a moment to remember the 3 chicks from Manitoba that did not make it. They were nesting on a hotel in the city. Let us learn from this tragic mistake.

One to go…

June 07, 2008 - Hamilton - Sheraton Hotel

Sarah Washington Reports:

Well tonight the third chick decided to get up on the ledge to see what was going on. The last chick is not quite ready yet, but soon all 4 will be up there. They are starting to loose the downy that covers them. Their legs look like they are wearing pantaloons. So cute! You can also see the rapid change in their feathers. They are developing their flight feathers nicely and growing so fast. The on street Falconwatch is going to be starting soon. If you live in the hamilton area and would like to help please email

Testing Testing

June 07, 2008 - Toronto - King Street

Linda Woods Reports:

Looks like they are trying their wings out for size. They can be seen from street level now. Watching them run the ledge is very enjoyable, although it does give some people concern. The nest watch should start June 11th at which time the male should be about 36 days of age.

Just testing Practice

Just relaxing

June 07, 2008 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Linda Woods Reports:

Here are photos from today June 7th 2008 of two of the 3 young birds. The third bird was asleep in the nest tray and too close for me to take a picture.
They are quickly loosing all that white fluff they had just a few days ago and spend a lot of their time preening the white away.

Relaxing Relaxing

!!! Fledge Watch To Begin June 10th

June 07, 2008 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre

CPF Volunteer Reports:

June 10th our annual fledgling watch will begin! While early days are generally marked by little activity, like our weather, things heat up fast!

At this most critical time each year, volunteers patrol the streets around The Sun Life Centre around Islington and Bloor. The young Peregrines will soon make their maiden flights. Often they do not stay aloft, and flutter down to the streets below. Thats when Fledge Watch volunteers are called upon to go into action. The newly fledged Peregrine Falcon is rescued and given another chance to take to the sky.

Look for us on Eagle Rd. the best vantage point to view the nest ledge. Please join us,whether its for a quick look and to learn abit about the Peregrines or to help out with the watch. Action will become fast and furious over the next few weeks!
