April 11, 2010 - Toronto - Mount Sinai Hospital
Linda Woods Reports:
Perfect day for a spot check. Female continues to incubate while the male is in the immediate area . Best time to see the peregrines is around the noon hour, when a hand off of the nest occurs. Still have not been able to confirm the exact number of eggs, but three to four eggs is an average clutch. Anticipate a hatch near the end of April.

April 09, 2010 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge
Dennis Patrick Reports:
Freddie and Voltaire our Peregrine couple wintered over at the Bridge site.
We have noted some vagrant traffic showing interest in the real estate. They were escorted out of the Freddie ZONE!!
As of the beginning of April Voltaire has been displaying what appears to be “cooking” eggs or seriously incubating eggs.
At this time we do not know how many she is “cooking”.
Freddie is very attentive and on the scene.

CPF Postmaster Reports:
We have just received tragic news that as of this mornings check of the nest via the small peep-hole, that both of the newly laid eggs are gone and no longer in the nest tray. While we have not seen any recent evidence of additional squabbling going on with the two adult females that were embraced in a bitter battle over the territory and nest ledge two weeks ago, we know that things can change and happen very quickly when these fights brake out. This would not be the first time that we have seen eggs trampled & crushed by two squabbling peregrines on the nest ledge.
In addition to this tragic news, it is also being reported that there has been no recent sightings of any female being seen on territory.
It is worth noting that access to the nest ledge is both under lock and key and restricted.
Stay tuned….

April 05, 2010 - Etobicoke - William Osler
CPF Postmaster Reports:
We have just received encouraging news in that a second has appeared in the nest tray. While the resident adult female is still not involved in full time incubation activities, the situation looks very promising indeed that this new unknown adult female is been successful in claiming the territory and nest ledge, and starting to produce eggs. No new squabbling has been reported and it might appear that this new female (who-ever she might be) is here to stay.
Stay tuned……

Kathy Reports:
After a few days of seeing no one on the ledges or only Jack, I just caught another shift change. Jack flew in to give mom a break and some lunch. After 15 minutes, they switched places and he headed immediately in the direction of his other ‘home’.
Her full time presence in the nestbox began on April 1st so we will start the countdown to hatch from then and hope for the best! We can only guess how many eggs she is incubating at this point.
An attempt will be made tomorrow to resolve our webcam issues assuming it is something internal that will not require disturbing the nest during incubation.

Doug Garbutt Reports:
Our resident birds are very ellusive this year as they don’t show up much on the side of our bulding where you can see them. They stay alot on the canal side which we don’t really have access to. The good news is that our management has agreed to replace our monitor. We are hoping to have it before we have a hatch,( if we are indeed lucky enough to have a hatch) this year. We do think the birds are taking good care of their 4 eggs to this point. If you recall, last year we had 4 eggs, only to have them destroyed by either an intruder or the rattled pair of residents here. As soon as our monitor is installed, I will bring regular updates to this site.

Frank Butson Reports:
The good folks in Ohio,Chad and Chris, have once again let us know a Peregrine from Canada was seen and photographed by them. CPF-volunteer Kathy forwarded their information to CPF and Mark Nash of The Canadian Peregrine Foundation found the following information.
“I can confirm after checking our hardcopy banding records that the Black 15 over Black X banded Pefa that you make reference to was named “Marla”,banded on June -2- 2009 at an Etobicoke nest site, identified at banding as a female, weighing 889 grams at approx. 22 days old when banded.”
She has been seen in territorial scuffles with the resident female Peregrine who is now on eggs.
CPF is happy to receive reports and confirm identities of Peregrine Falcons. Thanks to Chad and Chris again for their inquiries and the great work they do in Ohio with Peregrine Falcons. More information and photos can be seen at http://www.falconcam-cmnh.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?49383.60 all courtesty Chad and Chris.
