May 12, 2011 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
We have just received news from Eve Ticknor that the pair have finally gone down onto incubation! Eve reports that their resident female “Diana”is well hidden, behind a pillar, 2 down from the northwest corner. Sadly, because of the pillars, we will have no way to count eggs nor to tell just when the hatch takes place. It will be a different kind of Falcon Watch this year.

May 12, 2011 - Toronto - Mount Sinai Hospital
Linda Woods Reports:
Hunter and Ranger have not put down a new clutch of eggs as yet. Today the pair were seen sitting on the condo towers on Bay St around 1p.m. Local watcher said, she has seen them on other buildings for short periods of time. This information may indicate that they are not attempting to put down more eggs at this time. We’ll continue to monitor this pair of falcons.

May 12, 2011 - Toronto - Canada Square Building - Yonge and Eglinton
Tracy Simpson Reports:
I was on-site today to check in on the progress of the resident pair at the Canada Square Building and while we haven’t had a hatch there as of yet, I was treated to a nice look at the resident female and her three eggs. An enormous thanks goes out to Neil Armstrong and his staff at Northern Realty Advisors Ltd. for being so supportive of the nesting pair. I will be back in with this pair next week to check for a much anticipated hatch!!

May 12, 2011 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:
Arrived on site early enough to catch a morning feeding. Jack was standing guard above the nest ledge while Angel fed the little ones. Then as always, once she dropped off the remains, Jack went in to babysit while Angel took the opportunity to spread her wings and do a few laps around the towers before arriving back at the ledge to resume caring for her brood.
That is pretty much the daily routine here since Sunday and I’m happy to say that from the ground at least, everything seems to be going well.

May 11, 2011 - Mississauga - Holcim
Mark Nash Reports:
Update this afternoon with thanks to Armando who was able to capture a great photo at 2pm this afternoon of the nest ledge. Despite our earlier pessimum of the situation, the photo gives some renewed hope. While it is difficult to get a real handle on the situation with just a single photo and without additional observations, it would appear that the resident adult female is either back on her game trying to incubate one of the missing eggs, or that she might even be brooding a recent hatchling? Again, while its difficult to really tell what is going on given that the photo was taken overhead, it appears that her cupped wings and arched back might suggest that she is actually brooding a young hatchling??
In any case, her renewed interest in tending to an egg is a testament to her resolve and determination. We can only hope that there is a mate still in the picture.
Stay tuned……..

May 11, 2011 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Sue McCreadie Reports:
Bill, Rick and Teresa spent some time at the Lift Bridge this afternoon. Dad, Sir Adam Beck, spent most of his time on the cable arm on the Bay side of the Hamilton Tower keeping an eye on the nest box. Suddenly, Dad spotted an intruder. Even though it was between Hamilton Hydro Towers 1 and 2, the chase was on. The poor Red Tailed Hawk didn’t know what hit him. Mom, Cirrus, never left the nest box.

May 11, 2011 - Mississauga - Holcim
Mark Nash Reports:
We have received some sad news this morning from Armando at Holcim in that it would appear that the first attempt by the resident birds has failed to hatch the clutch of eggs. Observations this morning reported that although there was only one adult seen on the nest ledge, and she/he was standing on the nest ledge but not involved in any incubation activities. The three eggs were scattered around outside of the nest bowl and a second adult was not seen. This observation, (in part) is consistent with Bruce Massey s report of Monday where he reported not seeing any changing of the guards happening throughout his observations.
Stay tuned, as we hope that more information will follow……..
