July 08, 2019 - Toronto - King Street
Linda Woods Reports:
July 8th early evening.
Did a spot check on the Sheraton and only saw one peregrine. Can’t be sure if it was a juvie, sitting on the north/west corner of a building at Queen and Bay St.
I took a quick look around Mt.Sinai area and didn’t see any activity. They all must be out flying around with the Adults.
King St.
One adult on the south service area of 18 King St, cleaning prey. Later it was seen on the north east corner of the Dynamic building. I still think it’s Stormin and Chaos coming to this area. I was hoping to see perhaps Quinn or Bonvoy follow Stormin over to King St., have to wait and see if that happens.

July 11th 2019
I found one juvenile on Southwest corner of Hilton then as I got up to Richmond two juveniles and an adult female in the air over Richmond Street and I’m pretty sure I caught the male doing the high pass over Queen and University that accounts for all four

Downtown Toronto Activity.
Spot checks are in order this evening.
King St. ( not an active nest site )
unidentified adult female sitting on the cooling tower railing of nearby building. She sat there for a long time.
Sheraton Centre:
No adult in view. BonVoy and Quinn appear to be enjoying the west tower of Nathan Phillips Square. Pigeons nest in that area, curiosity must be bringing the juvies to take a look.
Mt. Sinai:
No adults in view. Two juvies on the south side of the west wing of the hospital. The others out of view.

Linda Woods Reports:
Both Bonvoy and Quinn are staying high. Bonvoy flying so well. He had a late meal on the south side of the hotel and will stay there for the night. Quinn is south of the hotel and high. Let’s hope they stay out of trouble. So far so good.
It is nice to see and hear the fledglings at the local nest sites doing so well. The cooler temperatures and light winds have helped a lot.

I write these updates for Bruce as he is completely exhausted and wants only to get some sleep so I hope to do it justice even if it is just a short note on things. Bonvoy is flying aces!! He has been to rooftops, letters of the Sheraton sign and all around the block! Definitely a checkmark in the watchers estimation. Quinn is catching up quickly and with the hotter weather he is less active during the day and reserves most of his flight lessons for morning and evening when its cooler. His first flight following his release was to the top of the Hilton hotel where he spent the night. Today he tried a flight to 130 Adelaide and didn’t quite have the height so back he went to the Hilton. He spent the day up there and there he remains at the close of the day under the watchful eyes of Bruce and Linda. Hopefully tomorrow he shines with his flights and gets closer to being a fully flighted juvenile.

Marion Nash Reports:
if the nest ledge looks empty to you on the camera that’s because it is! Both Bonvoy and Quinn have fledged. Bruce has been watching Bonvoy all day and he has been an exceptionally high flier. He has been going from the roof of the hotel, across the street to the Hilton and back again. His choices have been excellent, his recoveries amazing and overall he has done very very well. Quinn took his flight later this evening and he has stayed high as well! He flew over to the roof of the Hilton where he made a decent enough landing. Bruce was joined by Linda and the two continued to watch the young ones as they navigated their new environment. According to Bruce, Bonvoy is all but a checkmark and Quinn will need to be watched for another day or so to be certain that he stays high.

I got an email today that one of the falcon chicks had come down between York st and University ave on Adelaide street (next to the Hilton, pool level). I contacted Bruce who was out pounding the pavement looking for him. The information helped him locate Quinn who was uninjured and Bruce was able to rescue him . Great job as always Bruce and a big thanks to Lucas who sent us the email report of a falcon down and for taking the photos below.
Release back to ledge tonight stay tuned for that story and more photos.

BonVoy and Quinn still hanging out at home. Lots of flapping, once in a while, but overall another quiet evening at home. Chaos spent some quiet time sitting on the “S” of Sheraton above the nest ledge.

Marion Nash Reports:
Just got a report from Bruce and I am glad and astounded .
Bonvoy (confirmed blue tape) survived his fall! He is sitting on a ledge on the Four Seasons for Preforming Arts about 40 feet up running the ledge. Not ready to fly yet but he has a full crop so mom knows where he is and is looking after him. He has areas he can duck under to get out of rain and take shelter so he is safe at this point.
He is running back and forth the ledge and looks fine, lost of energy. We are just waiting to see if he does some wing flapping now to confirm the wings are ok but he has loads of energy and assume if just fine.
Tracy is going to drop by and have a look as well and take a couple photos so stay tuned for those and further updates.
Thanks so much Bruce !!!
