!!! Screen Capture of Four Little Ones!!

May 13, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

Kitty over at Rfalcon, the Rochester Falcon forum, captured this screen shot of a feeding and you can see 3 heads up for the meal and one little one laying down to the side.  I put little pen marks there to point them out.

In another day or so they’ll all be bigger and stronger and we should be able to get sharper photos of them!

!!! And then there were four??

May 12, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

Several of us are thinking we may have had a fourth hatch here but it’s hard to confirm at this point.   Soon as you think you see a fourth head, another one falls in for the block!  If anyone can get a clear screen capture, send it on in to us!

!!! Three Hatches so far!!

May 11, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

I’ve been trying to get a good screen shot but it’s too difficult as they can’t really hold their heads very long for me to grab one.  Saw three little heads clearly now during a shift change.  Dad came in to give mom a short break.  He didn’t seem to know what to make of the little cotton balls :)  He had that new dad, deer in the headlights expression!

So three hatches and one egg to go…stay tuned to see if it hatches!

!!! Two for Breakfast!!

May 11, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

As darkness fell last night I saw evidence of new egg shell appear from under Quest and this morning confirms that we now have two babies.  Quest is feeding them both breakfast now.

Skye is so excited, he keeps flying in with even more food and Quest keeps sending him away :)

!!! First Hatch for Quest & Skye!!

May 10, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

First time dad Skye came in to meet his first ever offspring just a few minutes ago!  I think he’s a little excited!

!!! Feeding the Eggs?!

May 10, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

Kathy Reports:

Checking in this morning and one of the adults has brought food in and is trying to feed the eggs! I’ve seen this on other web cams when they hear the birds peeping from inside the eggs.  I can’t tell who it is but my guess is it may be Skye - being a first time about to be dad.

!!! Can you see Quest through our mid April snow storm?? Old man winter, please stop!!

April 15, 2014 - Toronto - Don Mills

CPF Postmaster Reports:

April 15th - 2014
Well, as you can see, Old Man Winter gave us yet another kick in the butt last night and so far this morning and dropping another 2-4cms of snow on us, in addition to running the temps back down to almost freezing again. While no real accumulation happened on the road ways so far given that they were so warm from the last several days of some real spring like temps, the snow has already covered all of the roof tops and parts of the various nest ledges.

The real good protected sites are those with enclosed nest boxes, as seen here at the Duncan Mills nest site where Quest is tucked far back into the nest box well protected from the snow and wind by the nest box roof and walls.

We all awoke this morning to find the entire city rooftops covered with a light covering of white snow, high winds, blowing snow and cold yet again!!

I’m sure that we’re not the only one feeling the pain, as a quick check of all of the web cams had all of the resident adult females down tight to their eggs and in the MEC nest site case, down hard covering the Canada’s first hatchlings.
Stay tuned…
