It’s a boy & girl for Jenna & Chester!!
Another fun banding day at Don Mills/Amexon! Our wonderful rockclimber John did another stellar job at getting our babies safely out of the nest and keeping Jenna & Chester at bay while their kids were off nest! Marion, Mark & Mark Heaton got our little ones properly weighed and banded. We have a boy & girl-named Luke & Leia! They are beautiful and very healthy. Fledge watch starts around the 16th of June!! May the force be with these two
Boy-named Luke, blue tape, banded Y44, 625 grams
Girl-named Leia, red tape, banded Z12, 830 grams
Pictures to come

Irma & I are happy to report we have 2 hatchlings!! We have been up to check a few times but our parents would not budge to give us a peek! Until Tuesday..we waited Jenna out and she finally hopped off her babies to come check us out! I snapped a few pics of her and when she hopped back down, I beelined it up the ladder and got a look and a couple of pics of our two chicks! Fledge watch begins in about a month!!

Lucky, from the 2013 clutch of Chester and Jenna, has been spotted having a lovely bath down at Colonel Sam Smith Park by Nancy Barrett and Adam Solomon! They took some great pics of him, which I have shared here.
He has grown into a really beautiful peregrine!!
Thank you again to Nancy & Adam!

I am late reporting this(life gets in the way lol). MacGyver left the area sometime around the end of September–I only saw Jenna, Chester and the resident ground hog! All the best to our boy–have a good life !
Jenna & Chester continue to hold their territory. I normally see them on and off all winter-hope this year is no different!
The new sign is up! I ran into one of our friends at ICICI and he told me the sign guys were quite appalled at the amount of carcasses that came raining down when they removed the old sign LOL!! Chester always loves his staches….
Is it April yet?

As I work close by, I get to see our family almost every day, even if its just a sighting driving by. I went over yesterday and spent a little time there as I had been busy all long weekend and my last definate viewing of MacGyver was last Wednesday. I found Jenna and Chester right away on the ICICI building and no sign of MacGyver. I saw that work had commenced on replacing the INFOR sign and mom & dad were keeping a close eye on that! Chester flew off and I swore I heard MacGyver but without a visual, no confirmation. So I dropped by, with camera, this morning on my way to work and found a peregrine flying about and when it landed on the ICICI sign, confirmed by sight and then picture, it was indeed MacGyver! He then proceeded to enjoy his breakfast! I was happy-all good with this little family! I hope to have some time soon to watch him some more before Mom & Dad send him on his way–if the past is any indication, he should be around for another month or so, esp. since he was a late hatch!!

I am keeping an eye on our little man-saw him and his Mom during the storm earlier this week, hunkered down on the ICICI sign! He had learned his lesson from early in his first flights lol. Today I had only a short bit to watch, and at first found noone. I was just about to leave when Jenna flew in and settled on the “N” on Sony sign. Minutes later, MacGyver flew from ICICI building over to above the nest ledge! I got a couple of pics and he is looking great!!! Jenna & Chester are doing a great job -way to go MacGyver!!!

Update on MacGyver! He is doing just great! I have seen him most days this week-tho missed him Thursday & Friday. So I set out tonight determined to catch a glimpse of him! I saw bunnies & ground hog, gulls..and Bruce even dropped by lol!! He went on a walkabout(and found Mom, hunting) to look for our wayward boy but I stayed back. As I knew from previous years that the family always came back to ICICI. And our boy did not disapoint me-he actually flew in onto the “S” of the Sony sign! He looked great-and quite pleased with himself lol!! Milestone reached-well done MacGyver ! Jenna & Chester are doing a good job with their only child!

Numerous spot checks by myself and Bruce have found MacGyver doing well! He still is enjoying the rooftops–I am waiting for him to make the letters like his parents. While I was there last night, he was screaming and whining. Mom and Dad were there, swooping him from time to time, trying to get him to fly I suspected. And it finally worked and off he flew, screaming the whole time lol. He landed finally on the ICICI building again and there I left him. At least I got to see him in the sky this time lol

MacGyver is flying well-keeping his altitude and perfecting those landings! He chased his Dad and even made it back to the nest- always a milestone! Bruce & I watched him on that nest ledge most of the afternoon, mostly snoozing(as he really likes to do lol)-we thought he was going to roll off when he lay down with wing AND tail hanging over the ledge but he stayed balanced! Bruce headed off and Irma joined me and we saw some good flying, a feed and of course, some more snoozing! Though I would have loved to get him banded, I am glad he has stayed high and safe- Jenna & Chester have done a good job with this one! We are now winding down the fledge watch and I will be doing mostly spot checks for the next while. I am looking forward to seeing some great flying and watching Mom & Dad teaching MacGyver his survival skills!
