(Thursday, March 29, 2012) — 7:20 a.m. — As I’m walking up Lyon Street from Wellington Street I spot an adult falcon perched on the SW corner of “Place de Ville, Tower C”. The falcon is keeping a steady eye towards the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel rooftop. I certainly hope that its mate is on the nest protected by the elements inside the hotel’s rooftop.
— 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. — I observed Diana on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel twice in the afternoon.

Good morning,
7:15 a.m. — The weather is bitterly cold this morning. The cries of the gulls can be heard mingling with the busy traffic noises at street level. One lone adult falcon is perched on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel. I’m at street level and cannot detect the presence of its mate. I search the surrounding rooftops for another falcon but I come up empty-handed. Time will tell if we will be fortunate enough to experience a “Falcon Watch” this year.

Good morning,
Gusts of wind propel pedestrians forward on ground level but high above an adult is comfortably perched on the SW corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel. The falcon is facing inward this morning and keeping watch on its urban cliff.

— (7:20 a.m. to 7:40 a.m.) — Diana has taken over one of Connor’s favourite roosts. She is perched on the lower pole section of the pitchfork shaped antenna at 275 Slater Street (formerly the Standard Life Building). She is facing east on this sunny morning. After a few minutes she flies over to the top pole of the antenna. At 7:40 a.m. she spots a prey in the distance and takes off a top speed towards the SE. I wait a few minutes to see if she returns but she must have found another rooftop to enjoy her breakfast.

March 20, 2012 - Ottawa - Delta Ottawa City Centre

7:20 a.m –8:10 a.m. - It’s a breezy morning in Ottawa. Construction workers are working on the ground level of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel while high above Connor is perched on the SW corner of the rooftop. He is keeping a steady eye towards the south of the city. After 5 minutes he takes off over Lyon Street towards the high-rises in that area. Pigeons scatter helter skelter when they spot the falcon heading their way. He heads in back of the Minto Place Suite Hotel and the Minto Towers. I find him again perched on the antenna of 275 Slater Street building (formerly the Standard Life Building). There is quite a bit of activity in the skies around him. Canada geese in v formation briefly catch his attention and then he returns to preening. He is still perched on the antenna when I leave.

Good morning,
Friday, March 16, 2012 — (7:15 a.m.)
I was walking up Lyon Street and the sound of morning traffic could not smother the piercing cries of the seagulls high above Albert Street. I looked up scanning the rooftops and observed an adult perched on the NW corner of the middle Constitution Square Tower rooftop. It was keeping keeping watch on the downtown core on this overcast morning. I could not find its mate at this time.

Thursday, March 8, 2012 — (12:25 p.m.) It’s a full house this afternoon. Diana and Connor are perched near the 2nd and 4th pillars of the SE corner of the Delta Ottawa City Centre hotel. They are looking towards the east of the city. When I drop by again at 1:15 p.m. they were no longer on the hotel rooftop.
