Sad news, first clutch fails…

Cathy Kerr Reports:
I went up Monday to check for a hatch and found only one egg, kicked to the side and the other missing. Also missing, Jenna and Chester. Was the stress from the intruder too much? Jenna too old? Environmental factors? Guess we’ll never know. But I also know that they have re clutched before… And since one egg was missing (females will eat the unfertilized egg for the calcium for a re clutch) I was hopeful. So I headed over early before work Tuesday morning and there was two adults, male banded, couldn’t see female legs.. I am fairly confident (extremely hopeful) it’s them! And before I knew it, Dad was off and mating with Mom! There is still hope for this nest this year… I will head up to check it out next week. Fingers crossed
