Soggy peregrines!

Cathy Kerr Reports:
As all our babies are flying high and well, our official fledge watch has ended and we have switched to spot checks. My first spot check was Saturday morning, before the rain. When I first arrived, I could only see one juvie on the Sony logo-would not oblige with a view of their leg so no id. Windy as all heck tho. Had a parent flying around and off went the juvie. Waited, was just about to go when in flew a juvie and another jumped out of the nest box(hiding on me lol) and gave chase! One landed on the Sony sign, other one disappeared. After abit, heard some chirping(parent) coming from the nest(geez missed that watching our baby) and off the juvie went from the sign and into the nest–blue band, Horton! Dad flew out and the chase was on!! Lovely flying and off they went! And so did I!
I returned around 7pm to check on things, such wind and rain!! I pulled around the corner and saw a peregrine, flying over the road, trying to hover it seemed but getting blown over the park, fighting back, blown again! I was wondering what the heck!! Then it landed on the light standard right in front of Debeers! I look and see something on the road–oh oh–not..but no it was dinner-a pigeon! Guess Dad had it ripped from him poor guy! Well, he sat there looking at this thing(I have pulled over by now–with my dog in the back seat–watching this)and I am thinking, he is thinking about retrieving this , cars are coming and well, I was not to sit there and watch him get hit. So what does this crazy watcher do? Well, I get a kleenex, get out, pick the darn thing up and throw it up and off the road!! lol. Well, Dad starts kek kek keking(guess I was getting heck for touching his dinner lol)!! A poor guy was walking down the sidewalk and he’s looking at Dad kicking up such a fuss–he gave him a wide berth and hurried past!! I finally pulled into the parking lot and looked for juvies-when we left shortly after, I looked and the pigeon was gone! Either Dad or security took it lol. I only saw 2 other peregrines, def. 1 juvie and think Mom but they were so wet, it was hard to tell.
Sally & I were back over this morning to check how they made out over night. We had eyes on 2 juvies-both on ledges and both parents. Mom was on her ICICI letter she likes and poor Dad was hiding out on a ledge out of sight from his family. He was quite a sight-soggy!! I will attach a couple of pics–hilarious!! Sally and I decided to head over to Harlequin to check on them as well(all doing very well, they put on a show for us!!). After I dropped Sally off, I swung by for one last check, and saw a juvie over on the corner of the 411 building–Lilly? Maybe or her wonderful sis Morgan, checking on her? Weather too bad to get a good look, but I was feeling good about it!!
