Islington and Bloor Watch Begins

June 18, 2015 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre

Tracy Simpson Reports:

While two of the boys are still retaining some downy patches and one is nearly there, we do have one male, Mel, that is looking pretty dapper and ready to go.  While Ninja, Glider and Ferris are playing on the ledge, napping and preening this morning, Mel is at the corner looking out and watching the world at work.  You can almost see the wheels turning in his little head thinking about what havoc he will wreak once he gets out there.  Lucky is staying close choosing to roost on the wall camera mount while O’Connor takes up her usual position on her ledge camera housing “throne”.  What is different this year is that O’Connor is taking breaks on the centre tower more often and allowing Lucky to babysit the boys.  Nice to see her confidence in him.  This morning, I was able to capture a touch and go by one of the adults as they attempt to encourage activity from the kids.  Oh what fun.

We will start off the watch in earnest today as our oldest male, based on hatch date, is 38-39 days old today.  It will most likely be the weekend before the crazy stuff begins but we have at least one boy that could go at any time and we will certainly be there to ensure his first flights don’t land him in trouble.  A warm welcome to our newest team member Trish and big thank you in advance to Rob, Marion and Bruce for getting things started as schedules among all of us, as we are finishing up other commitments, has our coverage looking like half downy peregrine; all patchy with our hair standing up on end in several places!
