Almost ready to fly

June 12, 2015 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower

Lisa Reh Reports:

Friday morning started with much vocalizing from 6:00 – 7:00 a.m. observed by Tony. All 4 were still in the nest box and safe and sound. One of the adults landed on the edge of the box but probably didn’t bring any breakfast. This upset these babies as the parent flew up and sat above them on the railing. A lot of wing flapping was observed possibly from Ginnie. Fraser arrived at the watch a little after 7:00. Each of the young spent some time on the edge stretching their wings. The rain did not drive them inside. Reggie seemed to be making the most noise as the others sat quietly. One adult was perched near the top of the other CTV tower for sometime and left just before 8:00 a.m. There was food available to them as they were seen eating from time to time. It was rainy on and off from 10:00 and well into the afternoon. The young were still seen peering out of the nest box at noon and went in and out all afternoon. Debbie and Jon were on the watch from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and all four of them were active. At around 7:30 Caster moved to the hospital antenna and the screaming and wing flapping picked up.
