May 02, 2013 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
May 2nd - 2013
Thank you much Linda!! Poor Linda has been running back and forth from her home to the Toronto Sheraton in an effort to debug our internet connection woes and we’re pleased to report that we’re back on line. After more than several re-boots of the camera’s, re-booting the computer, the bell modem and then hard booting each of the cameras it looks like we are back live!!
At one point I think that Linda was going to take our suggestions quite literally in that on her forth or fifth visit, she was considering re-booting all of the equipment with HER FOOT!! Yes, a really hard boot for sure was almost a reality!!! I think that the camera systems finally realized that Linda (long nick-named Mittens when she gets mad) had lost her patients and was in for a severe beating had they not come back on line!!
Incubation continues…. Stay tuned……

May 03, 2013 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:
Spent my lunch observing the pair just now. All was quiet the first half hour with Jack preening on the web cam but facing the direction of the nest box. O’Connor wasn’t moving the first half hour when suddenly I saw her back arch up, she did a 180 flip in the nest box and I could clearly see her breast now. Her head was going down as if she was looking beneath her and then back up again. She was still moving around quite a bit when I left. Hopefully we’ll have some good news to share with everyone over the weekend !

Tracy Simpson Reports:
I have been watching the camera this morning as Sante and Cass are due for a hatch any day now. I watched both adults in the nest fidget and fuss about; neither of them settling down for any long periods. Finally a chance came for a “reveal” and I was able to get a screen shot this morning of the four eggs still intact. It should be any time now that the first little one arrives so keep checking back!!!

- Toronto - Canada Square Building - Yonge and Eglinton
Frank Butson Reports:
Canada Square peregrine report 20130502
I was out for an hour and a half this afternoon looking for Haven and Stormin.
After a half an hour of sitting I spotted a peregrine flying over the black building, circle over Duplex Ave and then behind 53 Division.
Ten minutes after that I spotted the same bird, I know this because of at least one missing tail feather, circling over the Canada Square Building before disappearing.
Another ten minutes and I spotted the bird again, jinking and diving on a pigeon, and missing, at the south end of Canada Square. A few more minutes and the peregrine popped up over Eglinton east and the Bell Canada building, before flying on the west side of Canada Square and finally up to the nest.
I missed the bird leaving the nest.
I think the peregrine with the missing tail feather is Haven. She looked large, although I do admit that I once again have get used to the sizes when they are not side by side for comparison.
There was a little more activity over the next half an hour. Flights to the ledge, third over from last year’s nest on Canada Square, then to the old nest ledge and back to Rio Can. Finally a flight directly south, until out of view, at which point I came home.

2:00 PM:
Quick afternoon check and all is still quiet so far today. NO sign of Jack and couldn’t even see a wing tip peeping out over the nest box lip. I did however notice 2 pigeons on the nest ledge perched under the cam!! That tells me ‘no hatch’ yet - I doubt O’Connor would be that tolerant or she’s saving them for ‘dinner

May 01, 2013 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
April 29th - 2013
Sadly, we are experiencing some problems with the internet service at the Toronto Sheraton hotel and are currently trying to identify the problem. Despite the internet problem, both cameras are working fine as we are still getting great live colour images on the monitors.
We are still a week plus away from a hatch. Both resident adults are still attending and everything remains stable with the birds. Incubation continues.
Stay tuned, as we are working on the problem……

May 01, 2013 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Sue McCreadie Reports:
I am very happy to report that Bill and I saw one little white ball of fluff. Here’s hoping that there will be more. I think the Lift Bridge has the first hatch in Ontario.

Kathy Reports:
At 7:15 am - Jack was on eggs and O’Connor was perched on the web cam. Now O’Connor is tight on the eggs, can’t even see her wing tips peeking out from the nest box.
Yesterday Jack spent most of the day here and was still on eggs when we left the site around 6 pm. That’s the most time I’ve seen him spend here since egg production started. Stay tuned!
12:59 pm - Very quiet here compared to yesterday. Jack arrived back on site from his other nest a little while ago and is now on the cam. No signs’ of anything unusual thus far.

May 01, 2013 - Port Colborne - ADM Mill
Doug Garbutt Reports:
As reported by Tracy Simpson after her and Bruce Massey’s visit here, our resident falcons have found a new nesting site. It is at a location about 5 km North of our facility. With all the stress causing Trillum to destroy her eggs here (presumibly because of the young female from Niagara Falls) they have decided to give it another shot at a different location. However, there is still activity in the nest box here. The Sub adult intruder has been hanging out at our site & I think she has set up shop in our nest box. Buffalo Bill may have his hands full servicing both these girls. More to come!!
