!!! Little Joe comes down again!

June 18, 2010 - Mississauga - Executive Centre

Mark Nash Reports:

Little Joe was finally flushed from the tree where he spent the night by a group of very angry crows. Sadly, not a very strong flight at all and after three more collisions with the glass at MEC 4 and MEC 1, he finally ran out of steam and again came to the ground, this time very hard indeed!. Thank goodness that both Bruce who was on hand and a huge thank you to MEC security for actually being able to catch him up and do the rescue. He was placed in the rescue box by Bruce and keep cool in the fire room until my arrival from the banding event at the Holcim cement plant in Mississauga that took place this morning.

Further examination of little Joe after a much needed cool down and his willingness to accept water, it would appear that he has not sustained any life threatening injuries ans is no worse for wear. Exhausted and simply out of gas, but still very feisty with lots of attitude. That’s good news indeed!!!.

He will be held over for another few hours so he can be examined further prior to a green light for his release back to the nest building. With all three of his siblings still on the nest ledge and yet to fledge themselves, Little Joe will be released back to the upper roof top area under the cover of darkness as usual, so his siblings will not be scared themselves with our presence, and so that Little Joe will not be forced into a panic flight with our presence during his release.
