An early start this morning. Checked the webcamera early this morning and was able to see a short feeding around 6:30a.m.
Up to the Sheraton and saw Rhea Mae feeding the two little ones around 8:00a.m. She is a good mom, but not so much a housekeeper. Yellow Wings from the previous meal were still in the nest tray, and after the second feeding, she did not take out the “crumbs” but tucked the kids underneath her and layed down in the tray. Two unhatched eggs still in the nest.

It’s breakfast at 06:15 this morning. Looks like Rhea Mae is doing a good job. Can’t be sure, but I think there are still two eggs left. One may not be viable, the second we’ll just have to wait a day or two.

A quick check of the webcams and the female could be seen with the little ones tucked under her. The male appears on the ledge and approaches the female. Don’t think much happened, the next frame the male was gone.

Congratulations Toronto Sheraton Centre Hotel for thier first hatch of the 2008 Season, one chick clearly seen, but there may be a second hatch. Rhea Mae and Tiago are the Resident adult peregrines and this being Rhea Mae’s first clutch of eggs as an adult. Tiago, the male was hatched at King St. Toronto in 2005, and Rhea Mae hails from 2006 hatch out of Rochester New York.

Rhea Mae and Tiago’s first hatch. These photos taken around 11:45 a.m. as Rhea Mae returns from her break. Tiago was very quick at leaving Rhea Mae to take over. Tiago took off and was seen sitting on the building south of the Sheraton.

Hunter made his usual appearances on and around the CIBC building this morning, just as he has in the last few days. I first saw him at 6:08am and just before I left the area at 8:25am. The visits are brief and frequent. I checked the Four Seasons at 2:24pm and found Ranger on an east side false balcony, second from the north. She was facing in towards the glass. At 2:33pm, Hunter flew in from nowhere and intense copulation took place. Ranger disappeared from view and was not visible on the north side of the building. Hunter took off to the south-west corner of the CIBC building at Yonge and Bloor. He disappeared from view at 2:52pm.
Here’s a snapshot taken from the webcam at 10:05 am this morning showing 2 chicks hatched!
