Stephanie Quennell reports: I
just wanted to let you know that Horizon is sitting on the south west corner of
the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It is 2:35 pm on Thursday, 21 December. (At
least I assume it is Horizon - it is definitely a peregrine falcon.)
Monday November 20, 2000
Brenda Sharpe reports: Horizon is
sitting on Constitution Square as I type, having a nice pigeon snack. I guess
she hasn't left us after all!
Wednesday November 15, 2000
Jennifer Hanton reports: At approximately 12:30 pm
today, on a walk between the buildings of my office park (300 March Road, at the
intersection of march Road and Richardson Side Road) I saw a peregrine standing
very close to a pigeon that must have been killed by flying into a window. I
walked to within 4 feet of the bird and it didn't look alarmed or attempt to
move away. I did not see any signs of tagging.
Marcel Gahbauer comments: I followed up with Jennifer on this report, and the bird in question was a generally brownish individual, i.e. very likely a juvenile. At this close range, leg bands would very likely have been visible had they been present, which leads me to believe this was likely an unbanded peregrine from further north. This is the first report we have received of a juvenile in the Ottawa area since Freedom was last seen in late summer; if anyone else spots this bird, we would love to receive a summary of your sightings at marcel@peregrine-foundation.ca.

Marcel Gahbauer reports: The last confirmed sighting
of Horizon was by Brenda Sharpe on November 1. Has Horizon perhaps decided
to follow Connor south after all this year? If you have seen Horizon over
the past week and a half, please e-mail me at marcel@peregrine-foundation.ca.
