June 11, 2010 - New York - Prescott-Ogdensburg Bridge
CPF Postmaster Reports:
We have just received some great news from Mary Beth down in New York state.
She has been closely monitoring the nesting activities of the Ogdensburg bridge peregrines and in addition to finding out that the pair have in fact produced four hatchlings this year, and nesting on the Canadian side,,, she has been able to identify the band number of the resident adult female!
I just checked the band number against our records and we have been able to positively identify the identity of the resident adult female as being named “ Zanar”,, produced at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa Ontario on 2004, banded Black 69 over Black K, with a sliver USFW band # 168705686
Zanar was banded at 25 days old, 920 grams – (empty crop weight), June 11th 2004
Thanks You Mary Beth!

CPF Postmaster Reports:
With a huge thank you to Ernie for his observation report and photos of Star in a difficult situation (on one of his first flights at fledge, close to street level, surrounded by concrete, autos, buses, people and stuck under an overhang, these photos say it all!!
Hi Mark:
Here are the details:
This bird was spotted at 2:00 pm Monday June 7th. Toronto Downtown
Above the loading door at the Four Seasons centre. (NW corner Richmond and York.)
Blue band on right leg.
Stayed about 1 hr or so and then flew to a lamp post on the NW corner of the street. Then struck the post or something hard and then flew south on York street at about 8 feet off the ground.
Cheers Ernie

June 11, 2010 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:
They grow up so fast and this year seems even faster due to the lack of web cam. Seems like yesterday I was running around trying to determine if there was a hatch and this morning we have 2 very brown/black juveniles standing on the edge of the ledge watching the world with curiousity! Our littlest guy is still hanging out towards the back of the ledge but I did see a litte dark head peek out of the nest box this morning so he’s on his way too.
We are starting official fledge watch this coming Monday so please stop by and say hello! The weatherman is calling for rain all weekend but if it clears up I will come to check on the family.

June 10, 2010 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Sue McCreadie Reports:
When everyone arrived at the Lift Bridge this morning (around 9:30 am) we were very surprised to find Brant on the cable arm of the bay side of the Burlington Tower. Mom came in and landed on the cables with food and he proceeded to try and reach her by walking along the cables. Mom then took the food to the cable arm and he followed her. That’s where he spent most of the day. Between napping and flapping and preening it was a very long day. All of a sudden around 5:50 pm he took to the air and circled around to the other side of the Burlington Tower. We thought he had gone to the Hydro Towers, but he was nowhere to been seen. After a time of searching Linda Cherriere found him inside a cross beam on the lake side of the Burlington Tower. He had gotten himself into a predicament. He couldn’t figure out how to get out. After a few tense moments and some VERY awkward movements, he managed to get himself from inside the cross beam and onto one of the horizontal beams. Whew, what a relief. When we left at 9:30 pm, he was still there. Mom did a few fly bys and we felt confident that he would be there for the night.
What will tomorrow bring?

June 10, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:
Lorenzo took his first flight, early this morning. Star and Legacy are flying so well it’s impressive. It seems Star is a big boy now and takes off on his own. Of course Rhea Mae and Tiago know where he is all the time.
Legacy is not too far behind in flying skills. I suppose the cooler temperatures and the steady breeze is helping them keep aloft.
At 8:05 pm we had all three juveniles in view. Two had a snack on the roof top of the Sheraton , while Lorenzo remained in the same spot he was earlier today. I guess he’ll attempt another flight in the morning.

June 10, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Harry Crawford Reports:
Just after 9am today, Lorenzo took his first flight. It wasn’t
elegant. I think he tried to get back to the nest ledge and did a
gentle face plant on the window just to the left of the nest ledge.
He then slid down to the edge at the bottom and flapped for about a
minute. Then he flew over to the bottom of the ‘e’, first one in
‘Centre’. When I repositioned he had disappeared.
Later, from City Hall, I had all three chicks in view.
Lorenzo was on the north roof of 120 Adelaide. He was running back and
forth and flapping. The other two were on the north roof
ledge of 130 Adelaide, flying and playing tag. Lorenzo eventually
moved to the northeast corner and according to Jan, was joined by
one of the brothers.

Sarah Washington Reports:
Well, it has been determined that we have 3 boys and 1 girl Falcon. They are all doing well, despite having mild traces of Trich. This is a Raptor disease that can be fatal, but these chicks are doing well. They are being feed and gaining strength.
There has yet to be a fledge. There is still lots of down on them. Although those beautiful rich feathers are coming through.
The watch has started and will continue for a few weeks.
Let’s hope for great things to come!
