!!! We are enjoying the Peregrines

May 23, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

Saturday evening we were back at the Bridge site again at 5:30 P.M. Voltaire was busy feeding the chicks. 6:20 P.M. she flew up to the beam and flew down with more food. Ten minutes later, Freddie flew into the nest with food, Voltaire completely ignored him so he went into the other corner and started to eat at the food himself. Then he flew up on to the beam with the leftover food. We left at 6:40 P.M. Really good to see Freddie.
Sunday we arrived at the Bridge at 6:45 A.M. Voltaire was on the nest ledge and Freddie was on the West side of the Abudment cleaning a meal and then flew into the nest site. He presented Voltaire with the food and then Freddie flew over to the pipe. Lots of activity with Freddie and Voltaire and lots of vocals. When we left, Freddie was on the pipe and Voltaire was on the nest side hunkered down for awhile.

!!! Sunny Day!!!

May 21, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

We got to the Bridge at 8 A.M. Voltaire on nest ledge, half an hour later she flew up to the pipe and came back with food. We could clearly see two chicks being fed. Ten minutes later she flew off the nest ledge with food and landed on the beam, then back onto the nest ledge again. We were there for 45 minutes to see this activity but no sight of Freddie. Will try to get back later this evening and check things out once again.
Mark, Thank You again for the phone call, you and CPF are GREAT.

!!! Feeding time!!!

May 20, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

May 16 Dennis stopped by the Bridge to check on the family of Peregrine’s, Voltaire was on the chicks, half an hour later she flew off to the East and came back with food for the feeding while Freddie was on the Tower. Yesterday morning (6:30 A.M.) and this morning we stopped by the Bridge but it was so foggy all we could see was Freddie on the pipe and Voltaire on the Nest. Hopefully tomrrow morning it will be just clear so we can see some action with feeding. Have a great long weekend.

CPF Postmaster Reports:

Finally got to see a feeding…
I was up at Ambassador Bridge today in the pouring rain waiting to see a feeding.. I new it was time the babies were very vocal…. After a long two hour wait, Freddie finally flew in food and a feeding started… The babies were quiet and happy in the end… Well worth the wait…

Dennis Patrick Reports:

We just got a confirmation that we have two chicks and still one egg yet to be hatched.
Gwen & Dennis

!!! Yahoo, we have a hatch!!!!

May 16, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

Well, the waiting is over, Dennis and I definitely saw at least one chick yesterday afternoon on the nest site. Voltaire was on the nest site while Freddie was sitting on the ledge, in seconds Voltaire flew off the nest and back again with food and started to feed a chick. We were there for about two hours, after Voltaire was done feeding the chick, she took out the garbage while Freddie stayed on the nest ledge. Thank you to Mark from CPF for being so happy for us in Windsor knowing that we finally have a hatch. Now we wait for a banding day date. Gwen & Dennis

!!! Still Patiently Waiting

May 14, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

Yesterday we went down to the bridge and watched the two adults, for almost two hours, Voltaire was busy sitting and working away on the nest site while Freddie was moving from the top of the “R” on Ambassador then to the cable, then on to the Church Steeple, then to the “A” and when we left he was sitting on the ledge. Thank goodness both of us were using our binoculars, I kept watching Voltarire while Dennis kept his eyes on Freddie. Still no sign of balls of fluff yet. She was very busy moving around but we just couldn’t see anything except her moving around. We will keep you informed of anything we see down there. We are definitely behind behind the hatch schedule of last year but it has been a flucky Spring.

!!! Still Waiting!!!!

May 10, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

Dennis and I decided to check on Freddie and Voltaire around lunch time. Freddie was on the nest just hunkered down and not paying any attention to all of the birds that were flying around the bridge at all. Voltaire was on the Church Steeple when we arrived there but ten minutes later she flew off to our right. When we left she still hadn’t come back and Freddie was still just being the good male that he is. We will keep you updated as time goes on.

!!! Still Waiting for Hatch!!!!

May 09, 2011 - Windsor - Ambassador Bridge

Dennis Patrick Reports:

Yesterday, we were at the Bridge for two and half hours. Voltaire was laying on the nest. All of a sudden she flew off the nest ledge and Freddie flew in and Voltaire flew off to her right and we didn’t see exactly where she went. Finally I noticed her sitting on the O of Ambassador sign. Freddie was quite content looking staying on the nest site. Finally Voltaire flew down on the beam and was preening herself. When we left they were still in the same spots. We are a little concerned that we haven’t seen any babies yet since last year we saw the first one on the 5th of May and now it is the 8th already. Stay tuned for more reporting.
