June 09, 2021 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower
Lisa Reh Reports:
At 10:30 Kim was on the watch and observed that all four juveniles were in the left hand corner of the East side of St. Mary’s Hospital. Earlier the adult was preparing food around the fifth and sixth window from the right. Food was dropped with the young at 8:45 and again about 9:45. One or two of the young made a trip across the building. Fresh food was dropped off at about 10:25.
At 3:15, Wendy was on the watch and reported that Care had fledged and flew to the ground, and landed gently and uninjured. Rudy was there for the rescue, assessed the fledgling and made arrangements to release Care from the hospital rooftop. David was also on the watch for the first flight and reported at 4:15 that after the release, Care was on the roof, (right side/north corner), one level up from the ledge, sitting quietly on the NW side close to the brick wall.
Care flew again at around 4:30 and David was on his own searching for the fledgling! Fraser arrived around 5:00 and spotted Care on a rooftop house on the corner of Pleasant Ave & Queen’s Boulevard. At 6:45, Care flew off again and landed on a narrow window ledge opposite that corner. The other 3 chicks were still on the ledge on the east side. Martha and Paul were on the watch in the evening and all chicks were accounted for. Carla and I joined up with them too and at 9:00 we left and Care was still on the window ledge, let’s hope he stays put for the night!
