Etobicoke private condo nest still active
April 02, 2020 - Greater Toronto - Private Residential 1
Marion Nash Reports:
On June 12, 2006, the ‘Four Sisters’ towers at the Lakeview Generating Station in Mississauga were imploded!
Shortly thereafter, the family of Peregrine Falcons which had nested there discovered a similar residential building in Etobicoke
The Peregrine nests have been showing up annually during March of each year and this year is no different. It has been confirmed that there are four eggs on the nest site (which is called a Eyrie). The first egg was laid on March 24, the second, March 27 and two more on March 30 – April 1. As our Mom and Dad are banded, our female is called Aria (she came to us last year from Rochester) – along with the male, Indie, who arrived from Indiana. They both share the incubation – taking turns sitting on the clutch. Incubation takes 29 – 32 days per egg. The chicks hatch over a period of a couple of days so we should see this phenomenon late April into early May.
The above picture was taken April 2, 2020 with Mom and Dad in the process of changing shifts - it has been confirmed there are 4 eggs in the clutch.
More information will be provided as we continue to monitor.
