3’s company!

May 05, 2014 - Kitchener - CTV-Bell Media Tower

Lisa Reh Reports:

On Saturday May 3rd, Tony sighted one of the peregrines on the King Street side of the building and was able to take a few pictures showing that this was definitely the unbanded female.

Rudy witnessed a shift change at the nest box on Thursday, May 1. Today, Rudy reported: “I was back today at lunch and no one was there when I arrived. A few minutes later a grin flew in and sat for a bit. It flew to the nest box and sat there for a few minutes before one came out the other went in. It looked like Caster trading places with the female. Once again I didn’t see any food. The female sat for about 5 minutes and flew off towards downtown Waterloo. I waited about 15 minutes and a bird returned, just as I put the scope away. Before it landed another grin came in from nowhere and they circled the building once and lo and behold Caster (I think) came out of the nest box and did a circle around. It didn’t look like a fight but I couldn’t tell whether the 2 of them flew off, as the building was in the way, or if they were sitting on the roof somewhere. The 3rd (I assume it was Caster) flew back into the nest box, but I could not get a sighting on where the other 2 went. So I can safely report that we do in fact have 3 grins in the area!”
