Mark Nash Reports:
June 22nd - 2013
Alan and me arrived at YP around 3pm this afternoon to join David Currie who was there since morning. David had just some flipping of wings earlier in the day near the nest ledge but no much was going with all the rain.
It was just after some heavy rain when we arrived and we spotted both the parents. One was sitting on their usual perch on the Investor Group building (which Mark Nash nicknamed “the kitchen” since the adults love to do their food preparing there.) Another one perched on one of the long stack.
Long story short, for the next few hours to around 7pm, these two falcons - Linn and Rueben (the parents) kept us busy and going around a few times because of the 8-side structural design of the yellow page building. This building is a challenge for us to watch.
We had three people on the ground but these two like to sneak around. Every time we thought we located a baby, it always turned out that it was one of the parents when we focused on them.
We finally got a break around 7:10pm when one of the parents brought back something after hunting but left quickly. We started seeing some wings popping up on next ledge (north east corner of YP). We were able to confirmed that both Loki and Niera were still on the nest ledge.
Both of them still have some (but not much) white down feather on their backs and on the heads. Things only get more interesting around 7;35pm when a parent brought more food. The parent started beak feeding both baby Loki and baby Niera.
One of the babies do a little more wing exercise and like to stand closer to the edge, the other one is more reserve and don’t like to move much. David stayed until 7:50pm. We decided to call it a day around 8:30pm when both babies stay on the next ledge and did not make any more moves.
