Canada Square Action
- Toronto - Canada Square Building - Yonge and Eglinton
Frank Butson Reports:
Canada Square peregrine report 20130502
I was out for an hour and a half this afternoon looking for Haven and Stormin.
After a half an hour of sitting I spotted a peregrine flying over the black building, circle over Duplex Ave and then behind 53 Division.
Ten minutes after that I spotted the same bird, I know this because of at least one missing tail feather, circling over the Canada Square Building before disappearing.
Another ten minutes and I spotted the bird again, jinking and diving on a pigeon, and missing, at the south end of Canada Square. A few more minutes and the peregrine popped up over Eglinton east and the Bell Canada building, before flying on the west side of Canada Square and finally up to the nest.
I missed the bird leaving the nest.
I think the peregrine with the missing tail feather is Haven. She looked large, although I do admit that I once again have get used to the sizes when they are not side by side for comparison.
There was a little more activity over the next half an hour. Flights to the ledge, third over from last year’s nest on Canada Square, then to the old nest ledge and back to Rio Can. Finally a flight directly south, until out of view, at which point I came home.
