Hi All,
Today was beautiful and took this opportunity to do some observations on University Ave. I could not have had any more perfect timing than today. I arrived just in time to see the male cleaning prey on the north roof level of Sick Children’s Hospital. Lots if white fluff floating through the sunny skies and I knew this time it was not snow. I waited until the cleaning was finished to see if this was food or a gift package. Gift it was!
The male then took the prey and flew circles over University Ave until he reached the height of the east facing ledges of Mt. Sinai Hospital, and deposited on the south ledge. He then did multiple e-chups calling on his mate. She flew into the ledge from the south. Lots of exchanges of e-chupping and then the female flew off without the food package.
She flew towards the upper levels of Toronto General Hospital and out of my sight line. The male stayed on the ledge where the food package was offered. I think he was disappointed. I did a walk around to find where the female had perched and could not locate her. When I returned to the corner of University and Gerrard St. the male had flown off as well.
Linda
