A Juvenile Peregrine Falcon - Black banded *6 over D found October 7, 2010
We are sad to report that we have just found out that Typhoon, one of the young peregrines produced at the Canada Square nest site in 2010 was found back in October of 2010 with server injuries and had to be euthanised due to his injuries.
The below report and information has only just been sent to our attention - (April 3rd-2012)..
Location found: St. John St - Toronto Ontario
History: Found on October 7th - 2010, contained and brought in by Toronto Animal Services: - Found in a residential backyard, wings spread out in defensive posture, it was sitting on its bum. Something wrong with legs. Tried to fly, got a few feet, wing sticking out funny. Did not see trying to hop or walk around. Was drinking rain water from gutter.
Assessment by attending vet: Right leg flaccid and non-functional, old open fracture of Tib/fib with 3-4 mm of dead bone exposed. Sadly we were told, that the bird was untreatable due its injuries and had to be euthanised by the attending vet.
