Yesterday afternoon I caught mom zooming out of the box down the road to deal with three TV’s in the air. No messing around with our girl, she was fast and efficient. She kacking all the way there and struck two of them immediately - one actually fell a few feet before recovering. The third one flew for his life and she immediately flew back to the ledge, gave herself a shake and climbed back into the nestbox!
This morning one of them was on the webcam but I didn’t have my binoculars so couldn’t make out who it was. A pigeon actually tried to land at the nestbox and whoever was on the cam barely blinked so I”m going to go out on a limb and say we are still awaiting a hatch. Although the pigeons aren’t a threat to them - I think one making it that close to the nestbox if there was a baby in there would have been suicidal. Jack is now on his normal sign perch, I see mom’s tail feathers sticking out of the box and we continue to wait and observe.
