All three accounted for

June 16, 2008 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Linda Woods Reports:

Frequent checks early this morning, I found one on the ledge and one on the lower Adelaide St. building.
Jan called around noon to tell me, that she had gone around the Sheraton site and found the missing fledgling. It is very low on a rooftop on the south side of Richmond St, south of the Hotel. Way to go Jan, for finding her.
Jan spent her lunch time watching this little one, while I tried to tie up ends at King St. and make my way over here. I stayed until 9:30p.m. and the little one did some flapping, running of the area, but mostly investigating the area and looking for a way out.

While watching her, I heard a lot of screaming from gulls. It brought my attention to the intersection of York and Richmond Sts. Gulls were diving at a peregrine fledgling!
Another one low. I don’t know which one fledged first or who is whom. The youngest is still on the ledge.

So with one bird very low and the other needing observing, I had all evening to sit and “observe”. The two did nothing. The adults did do some running of gulls and I was sure to get the “heck out of the way” so I am not mistaken for a “predator” again. I hid under the overhang across the street.
Every thing seems to be normal at the Sheraton for this stage of the fledge watch. Pictures to come. Thanks Jan for all your help here. Your the best!

Linda
