!!! 3 Flying Falcons
June 16, 2008 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
CPF Volunteer Reports:
I arrived earlier than usual in response to Frank’s request of the previous evening. I did not observe any bird on the condo, (ledge or otherwise); and panning my flashlight around the base level shrubbery, concrete walls and patio area revealed nothing either. The parents seemed very calm so I assumed the bird in question had made way back up to roof and this was confirmed at 6:15 a.m. when the female parent was observed feeding all three juveniles on the roof above nest ledge. Little activity after that until about 7:20 a.m. when the male started vocalizing and flying around the roof top. This quickly aroused the juveniles and soon they and parents were circling the building but after a lap or so they all disappeared behind the building. A walkabout along Abefoyle revealed one fledgling on the top of the most easterly condominium and another on the roof of the nest building. I am assuming the third fledgling was also on the nest building because the parents returned to their favourite observation posts and appeared to be very calm. When Frank arrived to take over all seemed to be ‘quiet on the western front’.
