Linda Woods reports:
07:50 – 08:45 - Mandy on the nest area, Windwhistler not in view.
08:50 – 09:15 - Mandy remained in the nest area, and Windwhistler makes an appearance on the lower ledge of One Financial Place. He took off and returned a few minutes later with prey in his talons. He circled in front of the nest ledge and disappeared below the roof level of the King Edward Hotel, presumably to the ledge under the Crystal Ball Room windows on the north side of the Hotel. He flew back to the nest ledge and took his place on the nest. Mandy flew out and over to the north side of the Hotel. A few minutes later feathers could be seen floating skyward although I could not see her.
09:20 – 10:50 - Mandy not seen again until she appeared around the Scotia Plaza. She landed on the second step and promptly ran into the ledge. Perhaps she was stashing a food cache. She reappeared on the ledge and preened. During this time Windwhistler could be seen on the nest constantly moving and changing positions. Four different times it got up from the nest and moved the north side of the nesting area and spread his wings. I think to cool off, the sun is directly on the nest ledge during this time and then returned to the actual nest area.
11:00 - Mandy returns to the nest ledge and they quickly switch off. Windwhistler takes off and heads west. Mandy settles back into the nest area.
No food was seen entering the nesting area during this time.
11:10 - Back to the street level and there is no activity at the nest ledge and Windwhistler is seen west of Yonge Street and heading towards Bay St.

Linda Woods reports:
07:45 – 09:20: Mandy on the nest, Windwhistler not seen until 09:20 when he appeared on the
far south west corner of One Financial Place. Mandy got up from the nest did a little “birdy tai chi”
and then settled back in the nest.
Food not seen entering the nesting area during this time.
Tuesday April 27, 2004
Linda Woods reports:
07:50 – 10:00 : Arriving at Leader Lane Street level, peregrines not in view.
Viewing from the upper Levels, Mandy remains in the nest, changing positions approximately every 15 minutes. She did leave the nest ledge for approximately 1 minute flew over to # 33 Victoria St. and then promptly returned to the nest. Windwhistler was not seen from the view point during this time.
Harry Crawford reports: Jan and I had the privilege to witness a nest hand off today. We spotted Mandy on the east side of Scotia Plaza around 1:30pm. Five minutes later she started to circle the building, fluttering up to the windows at every chance. When she was tired of this, she flew over to the nest ledge, one pillar north of the nest and started to vocalise. Spike came off the nest and disappeared in his characteristic wobbly way. Mandy waited a minute, flew off, circled back and disappeared into the nest ledge. The hand off took about a minute at 1:38pm. No food was taken into the nest area.
Saturday April 24, 2004
Linda Woods reports:
08:15 - On arriving at Leader Lane, Windwhistler is seen on the ledge north of the nesting area. I waited for
a few minutes and at 8:20 he flew off , circled back and disappeared into the nesting area. Mandy quickly
appeared on the ledge and flew over to # 33 Toronto St. She remained there for approximately 20 minutes and
then took off towards the south west.
Given the quick changing of the guards I'm guessing a hatch has not occurred yet. Anyway now. Friday April 23, 2004 Saturday April 17, 2004 08:30 - 09:45 : Leader Lane. Peregrines not seen in this area. 11:25 - 11:45 - Still have not seen the peregrines around # 18 King St. 12:15 - One peregrine can be seen on the south-east corner of the Sheraton Hotel. 2:10 - 3:00 - Not seeing either Mandy nor Windwhistler active in the area, I took the trip to the upper areas
of the King Edward Hotel and did see, who I presume, is Mandy in the ledge, lying down. As I predicated earlier,
the nest is on the north side of the traditional "nest pillar". One bird is still being seen in the area of the Sheraton Hotel and I think this may be Windwhistler. Friday April 16, 2004 12:50 - 1:50: Peregrines not in view at either the Sheraton Hotel or #18 King St.
Just before I left the area one adult could be seen flying around the south side of the Sheraton Hotel. Thursday April 15, 2004 08:30 - Viewing from south side of King St. at Victoria St., one adult on the north-west corner of the
King Edward Hotel, having a little something to eat. No other birds in view from this area. Wednesday April 14, 2004 Tuesday April 13, 2004 Monday April 12, 2004 Friday April 9, 2004 09:35 - Viewing from Leader Lane, Windwhistler seen on # 33 Toronto St. with prey.
Minutes later a lot of vocalizing. Windwhistler approached the nest ledge and then flew over
to the north side of the King Edward Hotel, just under the Crystal Ball Room windows. Mandy
appeared on the nest ledge and joined Windwhistler at the KEH. Windwhistler then went to the nest
ledge and disappeared behind the north side of the nest pillar. Mandy remained on the KEH for
approaximately 30 minutes. 10:30 - One adult on the south side of the Sheraton Hotel ( looks like a male) and I'm not sure
but viewing from Adelaide and Yonge St. it appears that there may be a second peregrine in the tray
of the Sheraton. ( the sunlight can reflect off the interior of the ledge). The male eventually flew
off and sat on the north east corner of 130 Adelaide St.facing north. Thursday April 8, 2004 Tuesday April 6, 2004 Monday April 5, 2004 Saturday April 3, 2004 09:15: Viewing from the King Edward Hotel area, Mandy approaches the nest building and
sets down on the ledge of the nesting area, but does not enter.
At the same time I see two more peregrines flying around the top of the Scotia Plaza, and
it is very clear that they are a male and a female and they land on the very top, north
east side. Seconds later a third peregrine is in the area of the upper half of the Scotia
Plaza, by the size a second male. I think this one may be Windwhistler, he set down on the
second ledge from the top on the south east side, all the while Mandy remains at the nest
ledge. Mandy finally enters the ledge and disappears behind the pillar. The other three
peregrines have flown off and I missed the direction they went. 12:45p.m.: Windwhistler appears on the far north east side of the nest pillar and flies
over to the north side of the King Edward Hotel and seconds later back to the nest ledge and
disappears behind the pillar. Mandy not seen at this time. I walked north on Toronto St. and
discovered Mandy on the North East corner of the King Edward Hotel. 1:10p.m.: One adult peregrine seen on the north east corner of the black building, located
on the north-east corner of York and Richmond. It does appear that there is a second pair in the downtown area. 4:10p.m.: Viewing from Leader Lane. One adult seen on the north west corner of # 1 Toronto
Street appearing comfortable and relaxed.Second adult not in view and is presumed to be behind
the nest pillar. Thursday April 1, 2004 Friday April 02, 2004 Tuesday March 30, 2004 Tuesday March 30, 2004 Over the past few days, I have focused my attention on Spike and Mandy's behaviour on
the nest ledge. It would appear that for the past week, much activity has been ongoing
behind the pillar on the nest ledge at 18 King Street. It appears that the pair may have in fact laid eggs, and the incubation has started.
This year, it appears that Many has gone completely behind the pillar to lay her eggs,
as it has been almost impossible to get a sight line in behind the pillar even with the
spotting scope. Only one adult has been seen at any given time over the past days, and most
of the activity has been around the nest ledge. Monday March 29, 2004 While I was making way to the upper levels of the King Edward Hotel, Mandy had appeared
on the nest ledge and remained there for the duration of my observing. Through my binoculars
I could clearly see the coloured band on the right leg and smaller coloured band on the left.
During this time there wasn’t any movement or activity at the base of the nest pillar. It
could be that, if there are eggs at this time, they are either directly behind the pillar or,
on the north side of the pillar with Windwhistler on the eggs and not visible from this
vantage point. At 09:15 Mandy left the nest ledge and flew towards the west side of the King
Edward Hotel and out of view. Saturday March 20, 2004 Sunday March 14, 2004 Saturday March 13, 2004
Jan Chudy reports:
At 1:55 p.m. walking towards the King Eddie from Church a bird was visible on the east side of the King Eddie
roof and appeared to be eating. As I crossed King to go to Toronto and Court, the bird flew over King
and perched on the north east corner of 18 King (at nest ledge level). Based on the flight, I took it
to be Spike. He vocalized a little and then just sat staring at the nest ledge. At 2:05 Mandy suddenly
flew out of the nest ledge heading south. Spike followed. At 2:07 Mandy flew back straight in to the nest
ledge. I left at 2:20 with no further sightings.
Linda Woods reports:
10:00 – 10:50: Mandy on the nest and the only activity I viewed during this time was her shifting her
position and possibly turning the eggs once. Windwhistler was not seen in this area or in the south
Sheraton Hotel area.
Linda Woods reports:
08:15 - York and Adelaide Sts. One bird flew into view and landed on the north -east corner of 130 Adelaide St,
didn't see a peregrine on the ledge of the Sheraton Hotel.
Linda Woods reports:
08:10 - 8:25: Peregrines not in view on the south side of the Sheraton Hotel
Linda Woods reports:
O8:10 – 08:25 - One adult seen on the Sheraton Ledge. Not visible from street level with the blind eye,
using binoculars it can be seen sitting back from the edge of the ledge. Not sure if it is sitting on
the nest box or just in front of it.
Jan Chudy reports:
Checking at 9:30 a bird was on the Sheraton ledge. At 1:10, a bird was standing in the nest box.
Between then and now, no other sightings.
Jan Chudy reports:
Rainy morning so I could not see over to the Sheraton. However, as I looked over at 2:45 p.m. a bird flew in
from the south west to the ledge and between then and 5:45 p.m. a bird was visible almost all the time on
the Sheraton ledge.
Jan Chudy reports:
Shortly before 10 a.m. I spotted a bird on the NE corner of 120 Adelaide. At 12:50, one bird was on the Sheraton
ledge and an other was on the NW corner of 120 Adelaide. At 1p.m. the bird at the Sheraton flew off.
Based on its wobbly flight, I thought it might be Spike. I walked along to Toronto Street and as I approached
one bird was on the NW corner of the King Eddie. As I reached the hotel, it flew off towards the nest building.
I watched from Toronto and Court (with Harry) until about 1:45 but saw nothing.
Between 2 p.m. and 3:15 one bird was visible standing on the nest box at the Sheraton. On checking at 4:25,
nothing was visible.
Linda Woods reports:
09:15 - One adult seen flying south side of the Sheraton Hotel area.
Jan Chudy reports:
Between 9:50 and 12:10 a bird was on view almost continuously either on the NE corner of 120 Adelaide or on the
Sheraton ledge. No sightings during the afternoon, but now at 6 p.m. one bird is in the very back left corner
of the Sheraton ledge.
Jan Chudy reports:
From 12:30 until 3:15 (when I am leaving the office) a bird has been present
virtually the whole time standing on the North east corner of westerly building of
the Richmond/Adelaide Complex.
Jan Chudy reports:
From 10:20 a.m. until 5:20 p.m. a bird was present virtually the whole time on the
Sheraton ledge, or on the standpipe in the middle of the ledge.
Linda Woods reports:
08:20 - 09:00: One adult on the south side ledge of the Sheraton Hotel. No other peregrines
in view.
Paul Marshman reports:
About 1:30 p.m., Harry and I
saw Spike arrive at the nest, flying in from the west. He went behind
the nest pillar, and a few minutes later Mandy emerged on the other side
of the pillar. She sat there for a few minutes, then took a short
flight to the east and returned, landing on the ledge a couple of
squares away from the nest. Spike soon emerged and flew over to One
Toronto St., but Mandy didn't take his place on the nest. She sat there
in full view for at least 15 minutes, and was still there when I left at 2.
Jan Chudy reports:
At 10:25 this morning as I walked in to my 61st floor north facing office in First Canadian Place,
two falcons took off from the Sheraton ledge and played talon tag above the hotel.
They then swooped around a bit and one flew off. One returned to take up its perch on the
standpipe in the middle of the ledge and is still there now (11 a.m.).
Jan Chudy reports:
Both birds were sitting side by side on the Sheraton ledge this morning
between 11 and 11:10. They both flew off within a few minutes of each
other.
Linda Wood reports:
Incubation has started at the downtown nest site. Spike and Mandy are back at it again!
Linda Wood reports:
08:15 – 09:15: From street level at Leader Lane, adults were not in view.
Paul Marshman reports:
About 3 p.m. I found Mandy and Spike sitting close together on the nest ledge, on either
side of one of the pillars. When I passed by again at 4:20, Spike
was still in the same spot but Mandy had moved to the northeast corner of the King
Edward Hotel.
Linda Woods reports:
11:15a.m. One adult seen on the south side of the Sheraton Hotel.
Birds not seen in the area of #18 King St. at this time.
Linda Woods reports:
10:15 a.m. Peregrines not in view on the south side of the Sheraton Hotel.
Mandy seen on the nest ledge of # 18 King St. at 10:30a.m.
