BRIGHAM CITY — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed a peregrine falcon on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.
Wildlife officials said the shooting happened on Nov. 15. Duck hunters heard the shot and later found the falcon's body. A four-door dark truck pulling a duck boat was seen leaving the area.
Peregrine falcons are a protected species, and killing one is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a $15,000 fine. Anyone with information is asked to call 435-734-6435 or 435-865-0861.
