Project School Visit:
Westcreek Public School (Pickering)

Visit sponsored by: Ontario Power Generation

In October 2001, we visited Pickering's Westcreek Public School with our one-year-old female peregrine falcon "Penny".  Below is a variety of feedback from the school:

Dear Friends at the Canadian Peregrine Foundation,

We would like to thank your organization for coming to our school.  Your presentation was very informative and extremely interesting.  The students and teachers learned many new facts about peregrine falcons and endangered species, while your presenter covered different areas in both the Grade Four and Grade Six curriculum.

The students enjoyed meeting Penny, the peregrine falcon.  It was wonderful to see such a magnificent bird up close.  Penny inspired many of our students to visit your website and do independent research of their own.  You have created an awareness of our native endangered species which may help preserve future endangered species as well.

Wishing you much success with all of your projects,

The Staff and Students at Westcreek Public School

"The Falcon Star" - Nov 23/01

On November 21, a person that the teachers call "The Bird Man" was in the library and told us about Peregrine Falcons.  He told us about how they hunt and in the end brought out his own Peregrine Falcon, Penny.

"The Bird Man" came from the Canadian Peregrine Foundation.  Ms. Schlichting took many pictures of the falcon.  He told us about another one of his favourite feathered friends, Nate.  One time, Nate was not paying attention and flew into a window.  Luckily, he was not seriously injured.
