In May 2000, we visited Newmarket's Stonehaven Public School. The students had an opportunity to meet "Scotty", our one-year-old male peregrine falcon. Below is a short letter from one of the teachers, and a couple of poems from the students.
Dear Foundation Members,
Last week our children in grades four to eight had an amazing visit from Marion, Mark, and Scotty. Even though the audiences were large, Mark managed to capture the interest and attention of everyone. Not only did the students learn many new and interesting facts about peregrines; they developed a sharpened awareness of our planet's perils and the need for all of us to be in tune with realistic ways to save it. Sometimes in the frenetic pace of living we seem to lose sight of the things that are REALLY important. Continued success with your very worthwhile endeavours.
Sincerely,
Susan Hill, Teacher-librarian

THE GOLDEN BIRD OF COURAGE The Peregrine Falcon,The bird of courage, As fast as a hurricane, As violent as a twister, As pure as a crystal, As clear as the sky, As light as a feather, As soft as silk, As strong as steel, As brave as a knight, Gracefully they are reviving, But they still cry out no more dying, They will win the fight!!!
