Project School Visit:
St. Michael Catholic School (Waterloo)

Visit sponsored by:  TD Friends of the Environment Foundation

In March 2000, we visited St. Michael Catholic School in Waterloo with our one-year-old male peregrine falcon "Scotty".  Below are some comments from the principal, followed by several drawings submitted by students in the classes we visited:

Just a note of appreciation to you and your staff for the excellent presentation that was made by one of your representatives (Amy) here at St. Michael School before the March Break.

Both teachers and students agreed that the presentation was informative and entertaining.  The opportunity to view a falcon at such close range was certainly a highlight for all concerned.

One very unique aspect of the presentation was the opportunity to prepare students by means of access to your website.  This access not only enabled students to be well prepared, but it also affords a unique opportunity for follow up.  As Amy promised to "post" student drawings of the falcon on a page which will be linked to your foundation website.

Also helpful were the student guides and the classroom visit.  In short, the presentation was well-organized, effectively administered, and certainly stimulated student interest in matters related to conservation of our natural resources.  Thanks again for sharing your expertise with us, and may you and your foundation have continued success in the future.

Sincerely,

Michael Mahony, Principal
