In April 2002 we visited St. Anne's Catholic School in Cornwall with our female peregrine falcon "Qetesh". Below is a letter from the school:
On
Friday, April 12, 2002, we had the pleasure of welcoming David Pfeffer from the
Canadian Peregrine Foundation and his falcon. Our students were given
information and statistics concerning the problems experienced by endangered
species in their struggle for survival here in Ontario. They were also
given the opportunity to meet a live bird of prey and hear this particular
falcon's story. They saw and heard fascinating facts to do with falcons
and other birds of prey. Students and staff were made aware of the reality
of extinction for many of our birds and wildlife in general in today's world.
The presentation was both informative and entertaining. It
certainly brought the Science Curriculum to life for our students. It was
absolutely great for the students to be able to view a peregrine falcon in close
proximity. What an experience!
Thank you for providing this opportunity for the St. Anne's students. Thanks
also go out to the TD Canada Trust - Friends of the Environment for funding the
delivery of your program.
Thank you for making this program available to our students and to schools in
general. It is certainly a worthwhile endeavour and will foster awareness
of the value of life in years to come.
Yours in Catholic education
