In November 2000, we visited Etobicoke's Josef Cardinal Slipyj School with our one-year-old male peregrine, "Scotty". We received lots of drawings of peregrines in response to our visit; below are a couple of the best from Anastasia (top) and Sophia (bottom), both in Grade 4, followed by letters from the students and one of the teachers:
We, the grade six students, at Josyf Cardinal
Slipyj School are pleased to learn that the Peregrine Falcons are being
helped off the extinction list through this association. Through
your presentation, we learned how we must reduce pollution, DDT usage in
farming and prevent all governments from using the Peregrine Falcons'
territories for their business, residential, and commercial industries.
Thank you for taking and spending your time to share your love for the falcons with us. Keep up the terrific work! Hope to see you and the falcon again next year. |
I, Mrs. Pereira, the grade six teacher at Josyf Cardinal Slipyj School had the honour and privilege to view my first live Peregrine Falcon. This presentation opened my eyes to the wonderful world of falcons and their lifestyles especially learning that a few pockets of falcons do migrate, nest and have their young in Etobicoke, Ontario. keep up with the great work and continue working at removing the Peregrine Falcon off the International Extinction list. |
