In November 2002, we visited Kitchener's Franklin Public School with one of our peregrine falcons. Below is a comment from the school as well as drawings from the students:
Thank you for bringing your peregrine to Prueter Public School in Kitchener. We enjoyed the video, the presentation and the opportunity to see the peregrine up close in our own school environment. As a grade four teacher I can attest to the fact that your visit was an excellent kick-off to our science unit entitled “Habitats and Communities”. We will be researching a variety of living creatures including birds as we learn more about habitats and the features of adaptations of living things. We will also be visiting our local Outdoor Education Centre to learn more about a variety of birds in the near future.
We would also like to extent our thanks to TD Canada Trust – Friends of the Environment for providing the funding which allowed you to visit us and deliver this excellent program to our grade four and six students. In a time when it is difficult to find the monies to pay for hands-on and close-ups of real life learning experiences it is reassuring and rewarding to join together as partners in education.
Linda Ingleby – Grade 4 Teacher.
