Project School Visit:
Polson Park Public School (Kingston)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In January 2001, we visited Polson Park Public School in Kingston with our two-year-old female peregrine falcon "Scotty".  Below are some comments which students wrote for the school newsletter:

Did you know that Peregrine Falcons can reach a speed of about 400 km/h when diving?  And did you know that there are only about 100 Peregrine Falcons left in Ontario?  These were only a few of the interesting facts given at a special presentation for the grade 4 and 6 classes.  The presentation showed a map of how a Peregrine migrates, and also showed the differences between the male and female.  Then, after a very thorough and detailed explanation, we got to see Scotty!  A young Peregrine still in training, he was highly talkative and eager to meet us.  He was adorable!  Everyone (including Scotty) had a blast while this extraordinary bird was visiting.  We all are certainly looking forward to seeing him again.
